LIPO charging voltage BMS charger

Hi

I wanted to order one of these

What voltage do i need it set to to charge my Zippy 6s lipo's configured at 12s 20ah currently 50.4v hot of the rc balance charger

Would just like to be able to bulk charge, maybe weekly balance, but ill moniter the cells and see how it pans out

I tried to figure it out but got confused, 4.2 x 12 = 50.4, is what i guess, but any advice apprieciated

BMS also asks for Charge Current?

How long will 400w take or should i go 600w

Get 900 watts charger instead, as for current as amperage pumping into the lipo pack usually maximum 1C means 20 ah x 1C =20amp.

Although, I don't recommend charging in series E.g. 12S and these are asking for trouble. I usually charging in parallel 4S (I also run on 12S 20Ah using 4S LiPo) and it's best safer method. When all 4S are fully charged and I put series wiring (4S + 4S + 4S) 3 bricks together as 12S.

Because what if one of cell is dying, I mean if you are not pay attention on each cells and you are pumping 20A into 12S and it will guaranteed burst fire yikkkkkkkes.

fechter invented limit amperage for the power supply switch at 5A so I would follow fechter's method set to 5A at 50.16v (4.18v per cell) charging for 12S.

Kinda not relate this issue but speaking of way he mentioned in past. Myself always charging LiPo in parallel and never had any trouble. I am using the iCharger 3010B 1000 watts charger at 30A into the 4S 30Ah in parallel.

If you want charging in series 12S and i would go low amperage at 5A for sake safety issue. I afraid one of weak cell would push other cells over 4.3v. :lol:

or you can use a BMS to prevent overcharging and buy the charger from someone who doesn't rip you off for the shipping. then you could buy both for the price of just the charger from BMS battery.

agnius found a cheap source of good lipo BMSs and ian.mich mentioned greentime is cheaper charger. leo at greentime will set the output voltage or you can.

Yeh i was thinking of buying some small stuff from bmsbattery and the shipping was expensive, so i thought id get a charger to make it worthwhile

I currently spilt the packs to 4p 6s, all the balance leads are paralled together and charge at 10A if im in a hurry but 5A otherwise

This 400W 12s charger is what you want if you don't want to split the packs to charge.

Yep I got one and it works great for 12S A123. Also can be set for Lilo and Lipo.
