Like many of you, I have a mixed bag of parts laying around. I'd like to match a few up, build them into ebikes, and sell them cheap just to clear out my junk. The plugs are not all the same. If the plastic rectangular "6-pin" sockets and plugs were the same interface, I can easily swap the pin locations around once I determine a matching pattern. But...

The plugs and sockets are not all the same. It would be easier for me to butt-splice wire-ends and just convert to a generic plug and socket pair. I have been very surprised to find that it's not so easy to find male-female hall-sensor pigtails...

Anyone got a source?

USB extension cables--4 pins plus shield. Use the mini or micro versions and you can even feed them thru axle nuts. ;)

(see Kingfish's thread about that...here:

I think)

There's also PS/2 keyboard/mouse extension cables.

I'd like to know the name of those too, if I ever want pins to reuse any of the ones I've cut off in favor of jst-sm. The white ones may be large, but they are excellent to crimp, depin/repin, and test by comparison.

Browsing crimpers http://www.ebay.com/itm/Engineer-PAD-11-Crimp-Tool-For-Micro-JST-Molex-Tyco-Wire-Terminal-/172279390826?hash=item281ca6e26a:g:974AAOSwtnpXj~OV give a few ideas on possible names, but it doesn't seem like they're nearly as commonly sold, and the crimpers appear more expensive.

I'm a bit confused what you are wanting. Are you looking for the white 6 pin plugs? Or something better to standardize to.

In any case, if somebody reading this is looking for the "scooter type" white six pin plugs you can get them at http://electricscooterparts.com/wireconnectors.html

I went to the square plug on all my oddball stuff because the are large enough for me to see, and work on. the mini jst's give me a problem soldering or crimping em. And, that square plug comes on all the cheap ass e bay controllers anyway.

If you want a pigtail, with a plug that fits through a torque arm or axle nut, there is the more recent molded plastic plug used in many sub 1000w kits. The one with halls and thin phases. Use it just for halls can work fine.

Get the motor wire wherever, then you can cut it in half and have two pigtails with a nice water proof halls plug. If the phases are too small, you can still use the plug just for the halls.

Here is the exact one, if it doesnt mate perfectly you can just cut the wires and solder to motor side and solder to controller side and then they will match. I have done all my bikes like this and makes it easy to swap out controllers.

To BikeFanatic, dogman dan, nutspecial, amberwolf...thank you all for taking the time to answer. It looks like the allelectronics.com link is the hot ticket, and only $3 for a 10-inch extender that has both male and female.

I have added it to the master ES connector thread:

"Connectors! Andersons, Deans, etc..." (Ypedal, one page)

The ebikekit.com 9-pin extender, and the Kingfish mini-USB extender are both in that list too.

Bought these, arrived in an envelope in four days, using paypal. They fit the Hall plugs on the two Kinaye controllers I have. A 12-FET and a newer 18-FET, each from a different vendor.

Just tested it on my Lyen "Xie Chang" 12-FET controller, its also the same plug there...
