I want to install an on off switch on my bike. I have a 48v 9ah battery 30c.

Will this switch work?

No it wont. You need something rated at a minimum of 20amps load if you are trying to switch the main power. That cord switch is way too small. You can simply google 20 or 30a switches or key switches and find something to better suit the job

This switch is not suitable for turning your 48v DC battery pack on and off. All AC switches are designed with switch contacts that are unsuitable to switch a DC source, and will likely fail very quickly, or even immediately as a DC arc can bridge the small gap between the contacts on an AC switch.
I recommend you use specific DC Circuit Breaker, available from AliExpress at very reasonable prices, and are designed for the job, and offer much greater safety and are available in various amp ratings.

That will work for your overcurrent protection but this will not turn off and on like a switch. A thermal will only turn off after you have exceeded 30amps of current.

You will likely need another switch to turn the system on/off

The best on off switch for the battery itself is either one that switches off the power to the bms, shutting down the pack, or just a simple plug you unplug to turn it off.

You can use a small low amps switch to switch off the controller, so the bike is off. That is how it works with bikes that have an on off switch on the handlebars.

Mouser and digikey have switches that meet the requirements. I takes some timd. I didn't keep notes but found 48vdc 20a
This is a 36v 12-16a can't remember and not willing to spend the time...but they exist. Patience...
https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/bulgin/C3900BA/1091-1026-ND/2747857 I found a duoble pole double throw to switch between 48v batteries that everyone said didn't work or exist. It took a couple of hours, but they exist.

found my data sheet for higher capacity toggles...search this....GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR S800s ~ S732

That is a really neat idea. Ive never seen a switch like that. Says there is zero load when off im impressed! Too bad its only for the low voltage club

I use solar breakers. Easy to install. 8 awg wire possible. Agu fuse breakers are very good too. Very cheap at aliexpress.
