Cycle Analyst - Battery config problem

I bought this battery from Grin Tech

which is rated as 52V 16.5 Ah
When I received the battery, there was a sticker on it, written by hand sting 17.5 Ah.
Great :)

I setup my Cycle Analyst (V3) CA at 14 cells
from chapter 7.3 here http://www.ebikes.ca/documents/CycleAnalyst_V24_Web.pdf
(but it show 51 v ?)
and the capacity at 17.5 Ah.

my guess would be that 52* 17.5 Ah = 910 Wh
I reset the stat, then rode the bike and after 57 km, my CA says the battery have giving me 1246 Wh since last reset.
Why is it so much bigger that 910 Wh:)

could it be because I did not change the Shunt Value ?

Any help would be very appreciated :)
 
Setting the shunt is almost the first installation step. Without a correct shunt setting the measured current and all derived calculations will be in error. You need to do this.

You should set up for LiMn battery type, 14 cells, and 17.5Ah.

However, 51V is not a good voltage reading for a freshly charged battery -- you should be seeing 58.8V on the CA hot off the charger. Charge the battery fully and verify the CA shows 58.8V. It you can't get to 58.8V then you may have a charger problem or (very unlikely) a CA voltage calibration issue. Next, reset the CA to clear the trip statistics and take another trip.

Yes, I do have 58.8
it is in the setting that I see 51 V after I put 14 Cells
Just like putting 1515mm for the diameter show 18.9" for the wheel.

Grin Tech told me that my Ezee motor has a shunt in it, so I did not needed to buy one.
in the Spec Page, I see a Phase Resistance (Ohm) = 0.049 , is that the value that I need ?

No - the controller has the shunt, not the motor. The shunt value should be written on the bottom of the controller case. If not, you can follow one of the procedures in section "Appendix A. Calibrating the Cycle Analyst RShunt Value" of the CA3 [strike]Un[/strike]official Guide. These techniques will apply to your CA2 as well.

Changing the number of cells can not change the battery voltage reading. I think there is some miscommunication here about this point.... perhaps you mean on the setup screen where it might be caliming this is a 51V battery. That is the mean discharge voltage not the actual battery voltage as displayed on the main screen.

Yes, you are right, sorry I forgot to mention Setting in my first post (but I did in the second one :)

For the shunt, I will go read the Controller right now

Again my mistake because I just re-read an email form Grin a few weeks ago. I had forgot about it.

You don't need a shunt if you have the eZee controller. The CA plugs directly into the motor controller to use the internal controller shunt.
