The short answer is you do not need to do anything with the 3 speed connector. It will default to mid range. You can use a jumper to put it in low speed or hi speed if you are feeling brave. :shock:
 
Right, there are 3 wires, one for low, one for high and a ground wire. Grounding the low wire puts it in speed 1. No connections puts it in speed 2. Grounding the high wire puts it in speed 3. You might like having a switch. Otherwise you probably want to just wire it for speed 3 all the time.
