Does anyone know if you can use a 100mm BBSHD with a 68mm bottom bracket by using spacers?

Will it throw out the chain line?

Any other issues?

Not the best way to do it I know but I already have the motor.

Cheers

I suspect it will be to wide.
I'm currently using a 68mm bb axle with a 125mm IG nexus hub and its borderline too wide causing unneeded noise / wear. I should replace it soon..

You can do it with 32mm of spacers to make up the difference, slide it in and see if its an acceptable chain line or not.

I'm running a 120mm bbshd in a 100mm bottom bracket, similar situation seems to work fine.

Thanks for the answers.

I went to the local metalwork shop and got them to cut me a 27mm spacer (for 73mm BB) out of 40mm by 3mm aluminium pipe. I painted it black and installed the motor.

The motor did rotate downwards initially but after I tightened the crap out of it it seems to be working fine.

Now I can use this motor on a wider bike in the future if I like :)
