Could I use the newer 36 volt Sunstar battery on a 24 volt Sunstar motor/display?

They went out of business but sell there stock.

Could I upgrade to 36 volt or will I burn the electronics?
Would these somewhat old stock be still in good shape?
Or could I use a battery from an other brand?

Thanks for any advice.

Typically controllers for 24v have 30v capacitors inside. Smaller, and cheaper, than a 50v capacity used in 36v controllers.

So very likely 36v pops your controller, exploding one of the caps. It might have overvoltage protection though, which would result in it simply won't turn on.

The motor can very likely handle 36v easy, once you replace the controller and display.

what he said

maybe open controller

check if 50v caps

if so may work fine

other than lvc

The answer is no. The crank will try to turn 50% faster and the efficiency curve will be pushed up the rpm band in proportion, which will make the motor very inefficient, so it will waste your battery and over-heat. With a crank motor on a bicycle, you have to increase the current to get more power.
