The Denver Electric Vehicle Council is actively trying to change legislation in Colorado to allow e-bikes on multi-path trails. Efforts started in Colorado Springs with the goal of a state wide change. We recently found out about a similar effort in Boulder county (see below). Getting the change in Boulder county will help the state-wide efforts. So if you can sign their county petition and attend the May presentation of the signed petitions, it would be a huge help.

Here is information on the Boulder County petition and May 21 event:

Here's the petition: http://signon.org/sign/legalize-ebikes-on-boulder?mailing_id=11906&source=s.icn.em.cr&r_by=1636404

They're going to present the petition to Boulder City Council at their May 21 Meeting. and ask them to legalize ebikes on the multi-use paths and in public bike racks, and to use the State of Colorado limit of 750 watt motors. 400 watt motors are the limit now, and just in bike lanes. They'd love it if you came too, to speak for up to 2 minutes each. Just giving your name, occupation and why it's important would be plenty. They ask for your address, but stating a town or neighborhood is fine.

You can sign up to speak ONLINE starting at 4PM on Friday May 17. All details are at: http://www.bouldercolorado.gov/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=528&Itemid=2407 The link to sign up is at top center of this page. You can sign up in person at the meeting too, preferably before 5PM. Meetings start at 6PM, but they've started having little award ceremonies and science talks by local scientists before Citizen Participation, so you can come a little later.

Okay, Nice Job, I think that we will come by, and say a few words tonight. Peace, Josh K.

Good Meeting and 2 Min speeches last night.

Nice to see the local E bike folks out in force, telling truth to power.

Loved the happy E bike couple, In their 60"s who told em, Yes, We ride our E bikes on the trails,
lock our bikes Illegally on the bicycle racks, have been doing it for years, and will keep on doin it. Nice.

Great to hear the peoples stories. And to couple it up with the science presentation on global devastation by
automobile use was a stroke of luck. Our presentation offered a viable means of local transportation solutions,
here and available today.

I enjoyed lecturing them about the DOT defining bikes with electric assist as just that, Bicycles! Plus the 2,000 miles
to the Gallon equivalency, for 4 dollars worth of fuel. I think that we really got their attention. Plus Jim Turner
showing his triple bottom line agenda, and Chuck from Pete's electrics giving his view point, made it a powerful
presentation.

Speaking with Kathleen Brackey afterwards was great, as she is one of the key folks working on the Cities master
transportation plan. She says they can look into it in the fall. But for now, they can"t get at it because it would
take writing a change in the City Code, and that takes time, public input, and recommendations from several groups,
like the transportation board, open lands, and parks and recreation.

This is going to take a while folks, maybe by next year, they can make a change, but it is going to take some real effort
on the part of the E cyclists rights folks, to make the presentation, of clear intent, Law, and reason to make a change.

I Mean, Why would anyone care if the E bike folks were excluded from the car free bike paths. Why would they think
that they have right to park their E bikes at a bike rack? Why would they have right to ride in a bike lane in Boulder?
Who are these E cyclists, and why are they so well spoken and passionate about this issue? Who Cares?...

You can take part in this action, Sign the petition, ask your friends to sign the petition, and let's help Boulder make a
positive change in their community.

Peace, Josh K.
