Hopefully I can get enough work handled to make it to Interbike tomorrow, and I will try to get a video of walking around the show to share with you guys again like last years. I'm so excited the show it predominately ebikes and an outdoor test track!!! Woot!!!

Dirt Rag is a mountain biking lifestyle magazine. Original art, passionate stories, investigative articles, honest product reviews, and a realistic attitude are what we're all about. Whether you are a timid beginner or a seasoned race junkie or part of the Intergalactic Ebiker Confederacy, Dirt Rag speaks to you.
Electric Slide into Interbike:
https://dirtragmag.com/electric-slide-into-interbike/

Starts:
Dirt Rag is officially in the throes of Interbike, the annual expo of the bike industry where companies show off their latest developments and newcomers have a chance to put their product in front of the eyes of purchasers and reviewers. Monday was Dirt Demo, the day to check out some of the latest mountain bikes. The herd was admittedly thin this year, with many consumers waiting in line for a long time waiting for a bike to come back for them to try. So as to not take bikes out of the hands of people who don’t have as much access to them as we do, we took the chairlift up as far as we could, then hiked to the top of the mountain. The trails were dusty, almost pillowy, as we hiked up through the pines, searching for a good spot to catch some riders shredding past us. Not many cyclists were venturing that high up the mountain, but we did catch a good view of the surrounding mountains and Lake Tahoe before heading back down. Of the bikes that did pass us, all but one was an e-bike. One guy in his 60s stopped and chatted for a moment at a fork in the trail.
Hehe... "Of the bikes that did pass us, all but one was an e-bike."

Goes on:
“How’s that feel?” I asked.

“I feel like I’m 28 again,” he said. “It’s incredible.”
 Surprise!

My name is Tom Crandall and I have been a photographer and cyclist since before many of you were born. That’s right I lived in the 60’s, forgot all about the 70’s, had funny hair styles in the 80’s, started real work in the 90’s and somehow managed to make it passed the Y2K phenomenon.

Today I am the owner of Hang Ten SEO, a full service SEO company. I specialize in SEO and if you are wondering what that is and how I go about ranking websites here is a fantastic article I wrote called Austin SEO Expert. The article explains how to go about ranking keywords and get them on the first page of Google, but enough about SEO.
2018 Interbike Day 2 Reno Nevada:
https://gearmashers.com/2018-interbike- ... no-nevada/

Starts:
Another day brings a ton more Interbike action. Today was a great day. The temps started in the low 50’s, but warmed up to a very comfortable 80 degrees with little to no humidity.

My day started at 5:30am moving from the Pepper Mill hotel to the Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa, which happens to be right next to the Reno Convention Center and Interbike. Unfortunately my room wouldn’t be ready until 12:30, so I had to leave my bags with the hotel concierge.
Includes:
E-Bikes are here to say, but there seems to be a lot of different battery sizes being used, and how frames are being designed to house them. It still seems like the Wild West. I also found that many e-bike price tags are starting to really climb. Look to spend in the ball park of $3k or more for an e-bike that has good components.
Hehe... Suspect he meant to SAY that "E-Bikes are here to STAY"?

ThisisReno is your source for daily Reno news and events for Reno, Sparks, the Truckee Meadows and beyond. We were founded in 2009 and are locally owned and operated. Meet the team here.

ThisisReno began with a question: Could a group of volunteer media professionals, collaborate and create an online news media outlet to fill the gaps left by downsized newsrooms?

The answer, we quickly discovered, was yes.
Interbike Highlights the Newest Additions in the Cycling World:
https://thisisreno.com/2018/09/interbik ... ing-world/

Starts:
The largest North American cycling event of the year, Interbike Marketweek, is back and enjoying its new home in Reno.

Interbike’s opening night media preview event was held Monday, Sept. 17, at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. Over 30 companies from all over the world showcased their newest innovations in the cycling world for riders of all interests and skills.

Companies hailed from as far away as Northern Italy to San Diego. They demoed new bicycles, cycling apparel, nutritional supplements, cycling equipment, and even alternative Cannabidiol (CBD) pain management options.
Includes:
Another creative alternative set of wheels is being offered by Inmotion, a San Diego based company meeting the latest set of electronic wheel needs. Inmotion offers ‘serious transportation tools’ ranging from Scooterboards, mini electric bikes, hover shoes (a hoverboard split into two) to the most popular, an electric unicycle. Tested on the hills of San Francisco, their electric unicycle can reach a speed of 25 miles per hour and guarantees 60 miles in just one charge.

Restaurant closed at 10:00 PM, and we stayed for two more hours. I tried to pay for dinner for everyone and nobody would let me. I'm not a baller, but I gave the waitress a $40 tip when nobody was looking. Everyone was so nice to me, I don't deserve this. Finally got to meet Luke/LFP in person. Today was a gift, and I appreciated every minute.

edit, had lunch at Bertha Mirandas across the street from the antique car museum, good Mexican food. 72 degrees in the sun, cooler in the shade. Clear blue skies. I overheard a lot of German and Chinese being spoken at the convention. Everyone I met was so nice. I hid my badge under my shirt, so they weren't being nice to get something from me, they were just being nice to everyone.

I'll have go over my notes and pics, kind of mentally and physically exhausted right now. There was a DD hubmotor with an IGH built into it just like the TDCM. The TDCM has a 5-speed IGH, this one claimed to have a 7-speed. It looked to be the same size, no word on diameter and width of stator.

Only one of the Bosch's had the auto-shifting NuVinci system powered by their mid drive. You set the cadence you want on the screen and it always makes sure you are in the correct gear for the steepness of hill. Most mid drive owners ride in the wrong gear and overheat the motor/controller. Thanks to xcnick for pointing that out to me. It was nice to bump into him and several others from ES.

Saw a 3D printed bike frame, but it was weak, needs to be stronger, too flexy. Bafang had a shaft-drive with s small mid drive motor. A couple of vendors had a bike with a 273 hubmotor. I knew they would be heavy, but....DAAAAMN it was heavy.

A few 2WD's, about a dozen dual battery pack frames. More color choices, and car-like paint along with good looking graphics.

Cargo bikes and fat tires are not a fad. People who don't know that they are supposed to not like them, just keep buying them. Pedal bikers are softening and ebike hate is fading. Older people spend money on their toys, so the bike shops have to give-in or struggle.

I would have posted a lot of pics by now, but the WiFi is super slow everywhere.

I love my cargo bike, going to help a friend spark his up tomorrow. I felt a little hate Saturday at the demo from guys riding the lifts up! Why is using a chair lift to ride your bike better than using a tiny electric motor? makes no sense......

Tern improves its already awesome folding Vektron and SUV-like GSD cargo bikes:
https://electrek.co/2018/09/20/tern-imp ... rgo-bikes/

Starts:
We’re here at Interbike and between bombing Northstar Mountain on any mountain bike we can get our hands on and speeding around the test track on powerful new e-bikes. We stopped by Tern to see updates to its already awesome folding and cargo bikes which we’ve already put tons of miles on…
includes a 4 min. vid on YT:

... a 2:30 mins promo vid on the GSD...

... and more pics and vids...

Ends:
The three Vektron models now include the Vektron Q9 at $2995, the Vektron P7i at $3195, and the Vektron S10 at $3595.
Wrap Up

We got to spend some quality time with the folks at Tern at Interbike 2018 and the team seems like they are very focused on these bikes and continuous improvement on every detail. If you are in the market for folding/cargo ebikes, I don’t think there are better bikes out there.

Interbike Reno 2018: Here are all the cool and crazy new electric bicycles you’ll want to see:
https://electrek.co/2018/09/21/interbik ... -bicycles/

Starts:
The indoor expo at the 2018 Interbike bicycle trade show in Reno, NV has kicked off. Nearly all of the world’s biggest electric bicycle brands are here showing of their newest e-bike models, parts, accessories and even some surprisingly weirder offerings.

Here’s a breakdown of all the best new offerings in the world of electric bicycles and other light electric vehicles.

Let’s start off with the brand new releases from the major electric bicycle manufacturers. And if you think this is just going to be a list of $4k+ e-bikes that most of us can’t afford, think again. The prices of the bikes here range from $600 – $10,000, so there’s a bit of everything for everyone.
Yah gots yer Yamaha “Wabash” electric gravel bike... "iGo releases 17 new models, including electric carbon fat, road and mountain bikes"... Oyama has two new 1,000 W and 2,000 W electric bicycles... Yuba debuts the electric Supermarché front loader cargo bike... Tern’s GSD cargo bike and Vektron folding almost-cargo bike... Bulls incorporates Fauza drive for removable battery AND motor combination... Haibike shows off the new Flyon e-bike for the first time in North America... "Raleigh came prepared with a handful of new electric bicycle models"... "Stromer has a new “affordable” e-bike coming"... "Green Bike USA is a new company in the US offering budget-friendly e-bikes"... "Greaser’s new vintage motorcycle styled e-bikes"... GenZe’s electric bicycles and electric moped/scooter... "InMotion presented their small e-bikes with small prices"... Bosch’s new Kiox display... Brose’s newest ultra-quiet drive... "Weird and retro driveshaft electric bicycles"... "GoSpade and Hycore T1 conversion kits"... Mercane 1.5 kW electric scooter...

... and ends:
Wrap up

Honestly I don’t even know how to wrap up such a wide array of electric bicycles. The entire Interbike show was simply an amazing collection of the coolest (and sometimes weirdest) new products that the electric bicycle industry has to offer.

Considering that this was a bicycle show – not just an electric bicycle show – the sheer number of electric bicycles on hand really demonstrates the magnitude with which e-bikes have taken over the industry.

E-bikes are no longer obscure toys relegated to the corner of the bike shop. They are tried, tested and true electric vehicles that are designed to be perfect commuter and recreational bikes for the masses.

If you haven’t at least tried one yet, then you owe yourself the experience.

We’ll have more in-depth coverage on some of these bikes in the coming days and weeks, but for now, this is a pretty good summary of the coolest things we saw at Interbike.

Which was your favorite? Let us know in the comments below.
With lots of pretty pictures and YT vids.

Great show. Sad that i didn't encounter more ES folk there. Missed Justin, Luke, and a few others. I was wearing my forum avatar on my shirt OR an endless sphere shirt, so that i wasn't hard to find.

Ah well, it was a cool show nonetheless. Nothing made my eyes pop out of my skull, except for a demonstration of em3ev's bluetooth BMS doing realtime battery diagnosis, Stromer's custom super thick Pirelli tires, Bosch's motor supplier showing their ultrafine stators.

I had a few vendors with their engineers alongside them and they told me that they learned everything they know on ES. To me, the whole point of ES is to provide fertile soil for building jaw dropping awesome electric things, and so it felt amazing to have been part of all this.
My first major build: 8T MAC motor on a Trek 4500.
The new all-arounder: Leafmotor 1500w on a Turner O2 full suspension.
The wheelie machine: 20" Rear Magic Pie II on a Trek 4300 MTB

Great show. Sad that i didn't encounter more ES folk there. Missed Justin, Luke, and a few others. I was wearing my forum avatar on my shirt OR an endless sphere shirt, so that i wasn't hard to find.
Hey Nep... Had a thought at the last bike show in Toronto (yeah, yeah, "Oh Oh", I know... but wait a sec)... Given that many riding electrics may not actually recognize other ebikers (known only by online presence...), thought was to have one or more show booth attendees selling electrics to hand out helium balloons on strings watt folks can attach to their belts, etc so they "fly" about ten feet up... above the heads of most show crowds? Booth folks could stamp/print their company/product names etc on the balloons... add a short streamer(s)... though I'd suggest anybuddy doing this all use the same colour balloons... like, one year all green ("Collect the whole set!" multi-years... :) )

Locally, ebikers are still in a minority at bike shows (yeah, yeah... I know eh? SOOO embarrassing...), so, just one way watt folks might recognize each other from a distance.
ES changed my life (for the waaaaay better).

We should have our own show dedicated to ebikes. No lycra.

And races! Not just limited to Class 1 or 2. I want Class 5.
I had a few vendors with their engineers alongside them and they told me that they learned everything they know on ES. To me, the whole point of ES is to provide fertile soil for building jaw dropping awesome electric things, and so it felt amazing to have been part of all this.
That is nice to hear. I sometimes underestimate the influence of the Sphere. Resistance is futile.

A Video on some non e-bike products at 2018 Interbike

If interest is the first item ... a active / floating , rear suspension design .

I have been waiting for better e-bike specific frames to become available, ones that are half the weight of the stealth and copy's of it and even much less weight and better design than the Beta ( light ) and the copy of it, as well as a frame that will work for any wheel size you ride 26/27.5/29er , With interchangeable inside plates on the drop outs to accept sloted 10mm x 135mm or 12mm x 142mm through axle or 12mm x 148 mm through axle.

Many of the Design features of the first bike in the video will be desirable for the next generation of e-bike frames .

At 17' 14" Alpine Stars Bionic Plus for Bicycles .

Also , what bike is that at the 14' 37" time spot ?
My first conversion ...

It's 2018 already, lets get some real , improved e-bike / e-velomobile / e-motorcycle designs .
