Hey folks,

Anyone have experience with Bird frames out of the UK? Specifically with respect to mounting a mid-drive on one of their long wheelbase hardtails (likely the TR) ?

I just added a complete of the base model Aeris 145 to the cart just to get an idea for shipping....says $10,000 to ship to CA!!! WTF can't be right...also the connection isn't secure (no HTTPS). I wouldn't put any info into that site until they secure it.

Looks like a great deal and very clean design!

Haha. I'm guessing typo. It cost 125 GBP to have my frame shipped. Then UPS screwed me $193 CAD when it landed. Maybe talk to Ben at Bird and see if there is another way to ship (rather than UPS).

Well I have the frame in hand, Mike's new single stage has arrived, and I've got the EX1 cassette, chain, derailleur and shifter's. Apparently a Bodyfloat seat post may be in my future if my kids are feeling generous for Christmas.

All I need is to figure out the right front fork to throw on and I'll be off to the races. Any suggestions?

A used Pike FTW...or find one in the take off section of your LBS. Not only is it a great fork, it matches the frame nicely.

Thx. Funny you should recommend the Pike. That's what Bird puts on the top trim level of this bike if you buy it complete.

Bike is largely built.

Still waiting for a used Pike to present itself on craigslist/ebay etc.

In the mean time I put a rigid fork on just to get things rolling, if you'll pardon the pun.

-Bird Zero TR (XL) frame
-Lightning Rods Big Block Single Stage Motor
-10.8 Ah of 72V Grin LiGo batteries in outer pocket of Timbuk2 San Francisco commuting backpack
-SRAM EX1 Cassette/derailleur/trigger/chain
-Cycle Luminator
-Grin Elight 12F
-Power Velocity 18 Fet controller in white Revelate Tangle (L) frame bag [NTD: limited to 40A, but need to monitor for heat due to no airflow]
-Cycle Analyst V3
-Magura MT4e hydraulic breaks, front and rear.

Outstanding items include a Body Float seat post and the aforementioned fork.

I'll be putting together a separate build log when I have time.

Annnnd the "controller in a bag" experiment did turn out great.

Controller is now mounted on the seatpost tube, I'll paint it matte black at some point to help with aesthetics.

Fork update:
Found one on eBay.

2015 RockShox Pike RC Fork 27.5 130mm 15x100 thru. Solo Air. Tapered. New lowers.

$250. 7 1/4" left on the steerer. Seemed like a good deal. We'll see.

General build update:
Wrapped the excess phase wires in an old inner tube. Doesn't look too bad in my view.
