Anyway, we will try to improve it better and better if possible to do for you.
We will develop each model base on your demands and try to do it best we can.
Hey Freyebikes (Ivy),

We upload a little video to show the bike when it started by throttle and pedalling. it is very smooth and comfortable now. no sudden power feeling transfer to body, just like a regular bike.

Have you updated the programming for the 2018 model, as per robocam’s earlier post here?

Is the old model I have ordered (still in transit) not smooth and comfortable? (Feeling worried) :(

Hi Daniel, Present AM1000 is also good enough and very reliable quality have been recognized by customers already. Please don't worry.
You can verify it by yourself after you receive it.

It looks like I ordered my AM1000 at the wrong time of year. Frey packed and shipped it around a week ago and still no tracking number for the bike or the batteries :( I'm figuring that it's in a queue of exports all trying to get out before the CNY. If I receive before the end of February I'll be (pleasantly) surprised.
I guess it's kinda similar to ordering something around Christmas in The US or Europe.
Impatient :x

What shipping company? I bought a similar ebike from another factory in China and it shipped UPS on 2 Feb 18 and arrived at my house just south of San Francisco, California, USA on 9 Feb 18. I did get hit with almost $300 customs duty too. I guess they were honest declaring the value.

The bike is coming by FedEx and the battery UPS. Ivy has forwarded tracking details today, so fingers crossed I may get it sooner than I think.

That looks like a nice bike Woggs. What are your thoughts on it? Are you going to do a review for us :)

The bike is awesome, better than I expected. Maybe I will start a new thread with everything I went through and my impressions. After the Olympics of course :D

I ordered a 3rd gen Frey a few months ago. I have about 240 miles on the bike and almost a couple of weeks ago, the motor stopped working. I made a video of this and contacted Frey.

Ivy mentioned that she reached out to bafang rep and he is unreachable for the next two weeks due to Chinese new year.
Will keep you guys updated on how this gets resolved.

This, for me was the biggest gamble about ordering directly from China. I received my bike a few days ago and I discovered after a 5km ride that the nut holding the left pedal crank was missing, and hence the arm fell off. I cannot say whether or not the nut was missing or it was loose and fell off during the 1st ride, but what I do know is I cannot ride my new bike until I can source a replacement nut, which is not as easy as you may think. I visited 8 bike shops before I finally ordered it online from Shimano.

I understand that a quality control issue can happen to any manufacturer, but it would normally be dealt with by the local dealer or shop you bought the item from....unless you buy directly from the manufacturer as in our case.

This is equally difficult for Frey (Ivy). As much as she is keen to help, Ivy is in China and I am in Spain.

This is one of the downsides of missing out the various stages between the manufacturer and the end user. The upside obviously being the savings you make over buying from a shop.

This last post of a failed motor sent shivers down my spine. If my motor failed as in this case, I would be up sh*t creek without a paddle as I doubt there would be anyone locally that could repair it. Would it mean I would have to pack the whole bike back in its box and ship it back to China? That doesn't bare thinking about.

It would be interesting to hear Freys ideas about after sales service...from China, and I will watch the outcome of the issue with the failed Brafang motor with great interest.

Left pedal crank arm loosening on the BBS02/HD versions was also an issue.
Were they already fitted or did you fit yourself?
To tighten properly use Loctite or similar threadlock along with a large Allen key and stand on the end of it to get enough torque!

Anyway should be an easy fix when you get the bolt.

btw how are these type of bikes looked upon in your part of Spain.... any problems?

Thanks for the heads up Tommie. The arms were already on when I received the bike. The bolt arrived and all is fixed. At the same time as ordering the bolts, I ordered some loctite :D

At the moment these types of bikes are overlooked by the authorities in Spain, so as long as I don't do anything stupid I'm not anticipating any problems (famous last words)

I have contacted Ivy at Frey and priced a Bafang Ultra AM 1000 bike to ship I went with price conscience options 150 mm travel. I figured you need high end components when your peddling to keep it ultra light not as critical with a large motor since this unit weighs a bunch any way. I also went with shipping over water instead of air and found I could ship three bikes for less than one air freight to USA shipping to San Diego ( Costs $250 per bike) . If anybody is interested in sharing shipping costs please let me know. I know some of you all have air freighted the bikes for over $ 850 to USA. Great savings of over $ 500. I am not sure how to work out particulars but I would ship to my company address I could ship from there we have a UPS account. You all would be responsible for the freight the rest of the way. Usually less than $ 100 but I can get exact UPS quotes to any destination. This would be shipped FOB factory and shipper would be responsible for any damage if it occurred . WE would inspect before we sign for the bikes. It seems these bikes are very well packaged so should not be a issue . Thanks for the vine. IF any body needs reference I have been a seller in e bay since 2003 I have a excellent references under surfingjef My company web site www.aairpurification.com since 1988 .

It’s like alacart depends on the the compoenents but their web site is accurate the base range starts at $2 k and goes up to 3 k . I just don’t think you need a lot of high end parts . As long as it shifts and stops . It’s just a fun bike I already have SWorks Specilaize that I ride all the time . This electric bike is just for some fun trying not to break the bank . So I’m on the low end of the range . I do want to make sure it’s strong like threaded axles instead of quick release . The fork should have lock out air Shock not cheap springs and damping control tapered aluminum steer tube and 150 mm is plenty of travel . Also I like 27” x 3” plus tires . I’m still working out the details for final price . The motor is what makes this bike special .

I just looked up the Volton pretty cool bike $ 3500 pretty nice deal buying in USA has its advantages . It has the same similar components as I am looking at with Frey same Recon Shocks they have 140 mm IM getting 150 mm, same Shimano Deore shifters Frey is 10 Volton is 9 speed , same brakes Tektro 180 mm , im going with Chinese cheaper tires they have brand name tire Maxis , Volton has 14.5 ahr, Frey with 17.5 Ahr battery , Volton has maybe better wheels Im still working on my set up. Also Volton 750 watts compared to Frey 1000 not sure if there is a difference or is it listed that way in US to keep in compliance with all the laws which limit to 750 watts. Here is the big Difference landed costs if two to three units ordered by ship would be $1000 lower by Frey .. Im hoping duty is not much could be $ 100 or nothing if anybody can comment on that would be nice. So if anybody wants to buy a Frey same time share costs to ship to save money per my previous post drop me a pm .

Another option is the M2S Bikes same 750 watt Ultra at $ 2950 USA made no plus tires only 2.4 " width x 27.5 . See below. They also have a Fat tire version. My friend got a less expensive fat tire one for $ 1600, 750 watt hub motor it was fun ride with throttle . See below skinny tire and fat tire versions same ultra mid drive .
