Hi,

I'd like to ask for assistance regarding my recent problem with this unit.

It's been working well for a year (1300+ miles) but now I'm experiencing
this problem - power is cut off for a split second and then comes back.
Sometimes it happens just once (for example 10s ON, 0.1s OFF, 10s ON, etc.),
sometimes more frequently (1s ON, 0.1s OFF, 1s ON, etc.) but generaly
It seems random.

From what I see it's related to bumpy surface - it doesn't happen on even
sufraces but only when the ground is not smooth.

I tried to simulate it in garage conditions - with rear wheel up I run the motor
and tried to move all the wires and connections (I have 3 SLA batteries).
I think I shook it very hard but nothing bad happens - max speed is maintained.
I tried to shake the whole bike but I don't get the same result as when driving
outside - power is not interrupted. When testing I run the motor both by using
throttle and by turning the pedals.

I also disconnected batteries and connected it to voltage meter - it's still showing
~40V no metter how hard I try to shake the batteries/connections.

Note one: voltage level on the display is not showing any changes when
the power turns OFF and ON as described above.

Note two: I noticed one strange behaviour - in same cases of power going OFF
and ON the backlight of the display turns ON (normally I would have to press
"+" sign and hold it for a couple of seconds). However it doesn't happen in all cases.

Is it possible that there migh be some loose connection between the controller
and the rest of the unit? I haven't looked at that part yet.

I would apprieciate any hint on how to check the reason.

Thank you

Kris, Poland.

Poor connections are the cause of almost every version of what you describe, probably in the battery connection to the controller (anywhere from inside the battery to inside the controller).

Hi,

I opened the controller and inspected the cables. They look OK.
However when I was assembling it back I noticed two things:

1. Black wire between the battery and controler (somewhere in
the middle of the way, not in the controller) had a demaged
isolation (like it was hit). I could have had contact with the frame.
It's fixed now.

2. After putting it all back I turned the motor on...after 1 s it went off.
I managed to turn it back on only after manipulating the two wires
between the battery and controller (actually it's one cable since it's
in a kind of rubber tube). There is clearly some weak connection
in that area.

Now I'm confused as what to do now. Cables are going into the controller
and are covered by a grey mass (silicone?) there.
Is there any chance to check the connection in this area?

Kris.
