Bafang BBSO2 comments on new build

Post by Rober » Dec 16, 2017 12:31 pm

I just put the Bafang 750W middrive (from Luna Cycle) on a cheap 20" folding bike. Overall I am pleased: it is quiet enough, the assist function works pretty well, it is plenty powerful enough, and there is minimal drag when not turned on. The criticism is that the free-run crank speed is too fast with a 48V battery. I tend to use the assist function and constantly adjust the assist level. A torque sensor would probably be better. What I would really like is a twist shift assist level adjustment so I could adjust as the grade of the hill changes. Robert

It sounds like you would enjoy the Ultra version it uses pedal torque to control output

This is my biggest problem with the BBS02 too.
