BBS02B noob mistake :(

I made a terrible oversight, I purchased a BBS02B 36V 500W.

And then ordered a 52V 13.5AH battery

Its not working with the 07 Overvoltage error :(

Program cable shows the 36V is locked down due to firmware.

Before I do anything, what are my options?

I don't know of any aftermarket firmware for these.
But that firmware probably just saved you from exploding the controller. It's unlikely that the controller included components to handle the ~58v your battery charges up to.

This motor is tuned for a proper pedaling cadence on 36v, so a 52v battery will make it unpedalable anyway.

Well...
...it's a learning experience, right?

Interesting, so are my options:

- Get a 36V battery
- Get a 750W controller BBS02

?

Find someone smart who knows if the hardware is different or just the software. There is a way to trick these into taking higher voltages, but it is only safe if the hardware is the same.

Latter option is to buy a 48v bbs02 whose motor is correctly wound for proper pedaling cadence on 48v.
52v is not much of a stretch for the 48v drive and the firmware will not tell you to go  yourself :)

Other option is to buy someone else's mechanically busted 48v bbs02b and frankenstein the stator and controller into your current working drive.
You will get your hands dirty and learn a lot about the internals in the process.
Maybe not the best option unless you are mechanically inclined tho.

I have looked around and had no luck finding a way to change the nominal voltage, looks to be inbuilt into the firmware which from my understanding no one has been able to modify thus far.

Great idea, I am from New Zealand so these sorts of parts are not at an abundance :)

Since I am planning on getting a new controller, I saw this thread: http://52.25.253.50/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=94022&hilit=TVS&sid=67dcb99af32d5dc2ea6a1b657dc127ef

It got me thinking, if im going to get a new controller I might as well mod the existing one.

Can I access the "brown cable" from the controller? I do not want to play around with the cable coming to the display (hope that makes sense).

Anyone know of a guide where I can find the "brown" cable?

Get a specialist rework your battery, it's probably a 13S4P, can be rearranged to 10S5P.

To find the brown cable, remove the gray pot in the area near cable access, carefully with a small blade screwdriver.

As noted above, the BBS02 operates with 52V; I've been running mine that way for three years. Why don't you either try to sell the "01" and purchase an "02" or trade the "01" in on an "02"?

The BBS02b that I have is limited to 36V?

I have seen it in the config tool, it is locked down.
