Hello all, great community you have here.

Please delete if there is a guide out there already as I could not find.

Aside from mention of TSDZ2, I am not aware of any torque sensing mid-drive bolt-on systems available. This tech seems rather old, no?

I was wondering if there are any other more contemporary torque sensing mid-drive motors that are bolt on currently or suspected to come out on the market? I am very used to my Levo, and 1. can't (and don't want to) afford another full squish variant and, 2. would like to get something I could program that feels somewhat similar.

my primary desire is...
- bilateral torque sensing on crank, intuitive enough for me not to be pining for throttle override incessantly.
- torque sensor within motor unit as this will be used for off-road and dirty applications
- looking for a motor system to HELP, not completely take away the pain of climbing a mountain, and for this I assume to reap benefits of weight savings on descent. I am a mtb'er first, not trying to replace my car or motorbike here.

I enjoy tinkering, if independent components available, I am not averse to building my own system. I also have metalworking ability in the ferrous realm of things only (hence why I am not retro-fitting a g510 to an existing frame), suitable for bracket fabrication.
Thanks!

I think of EV Warrior, Charger, and ZAP electric bikes as old tech. To me, TSDZ2 seems like a very recent development. Electric bike products for the DIY market aren't profitable enough to sustain a rapid, "model year" type development cycle. And the folks in the cheap seats appear to like throttles more than they like pedals.

I purchased one of the REVEL kits yesterday, and i like it. It uses a Sempu TS Bottom bracket, and has 160/240/320 watt settings, which seem adequate for mountain biking. They can probably set it up however you want. Its bolt on, I had been looking for about the same thing you are looking for, and this fit the bill fairly well. I don t think its going to take hardcore jumping abuse, but for regular mtbing i think it will hold up just fine. I ll be only mountain biking on it and weigh 220lbs.

Thats my bike with the conversion, heres the website and photos to get a good look at it.

Its being run by Paul Daniel and Derek Boland, and the ES build thread is here
