(Wiki:)
Inverse is an American online magazine geared to young millennial men. Launched by Dave Nemetz, co-founder of Bleacher Report, the site was made possible through seed funding and is based in San Francisco, California. The publication employed fifteen staff writers on its launch in 2015.

It Turns Out It's Really Hard to Make the 'Tesla of Electric Bikes'
("The second generation bike is about to start shipping."):
https://www.inverse.com/article/36137-propella-ebikes-tesla-of-electric-bikes

Starts:
Behyad Ben Tarassoli has been waiting for this day for a long time. When he founded Seattle-based Propella eBikes, his plan was to make the sort of electric bike that maybe Apple or Tesla would make, one that oozes quality. Unfortunately, when the startup shipped its first bike last year, it didn’t quite reach that standard.

“The first one, what we were trying to do was create the Tesla of electric bikes,” Tarassoli tells Inverse. “With just Indiegogo [crowdfunding] and a supplier, I wasn’t able to achieve that. The 1.0 was delivered on time, pretty good feedback, no problem…but I wasn’t satisfied. I really wanted to go back and change things.”

With the company’s second-generation bike, the Propella 2.0, he seems to have achieved that goal.

EU Issues Expiry Notice on Anti-Dumping of Bicycle Imports from China:
http://www.bike-eu.com/laws-regulations/nieuws/2017/9/eu-issues-expiry-notice-on-anti-dumping-of-bicycle-imports-from-china-10131287

Starts:
BRUSSELS, Belgium – Last week, on 5 September, the European Commission issued a notice of the impending expiry of the anti-dumping measures against the import of bicycles from the People’s Republic of China. These measures are to expire on 6 June 2018. This notice also calls for “Union producers to lodge a written request for a review.” The anti-dumping duties have for decades protected the European bicycle sector from a flood of ultra-cheap bicycles from China.

Ends:By the way, the anti-dumping duty does not apply to the import from China of electric bikes on which a 6% import tax is levied. The regular import tax for bicycles from China as well as other countries is 14%.

Pashley, profiled:
http://www.bikebiz.com/news/read/pashley-profiled/021824

Starts:
London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan has still not scheduled the unveiling day for the “5000” series of hire bikes you’ll soon see in the nation’s capital. They’re being supplied by Pashley, and I rode one (they’re a huge improvement over the existing bikes), and was given the full back-story by Pashley MD Steven Bell. Look out for that breaking story on BikeBiz.com some time soon.

Meanwhile, I also got to spend time with Pashley CEO Adrian Williams. He says “lovely” lots. Which is lovely. Here he is in his own words. You can also listen to this interview on The Spokesmen podcast.

Includes:
The group my company worked for had a subsidiary company that made gears and had worked on the parts for an electrically assisted bicycles a few years previously. When I asked a supplier about batteries he said ‘do you mean for the Sinclair bike?’ This intrigued me …”

[Sir Clive Sinclair was working on a small-wheel electric bike at the time, was became the Zike. It was launched in March 1992 at the Cyclex exhibition in Olympia, London. It cost £499, with plans to sell 10,000 per month – the Zike was discontinued after just 2000 were sold in total.]

Bicycle sales in Germany decline again, e-Bikes add 12% growth :
https://cyclingindustry.news/bicycle-sales-in-germany-decline-again-e-bikes-ad-12-growth/

Includes:
Sales were expected to have grown in the first half of 2017 over the prior year as warmer and drier weather made for inviting conditions. However, industry association ZIV outlines that between January and June 2017 about 2.64 million bicycles and e-bikes were sold. This is a decline of 2.2% and one that is improved by the electric bike segment’s performance.

Pedal-assisted bike sales are believed to have grown in the first half of 2017, tallying 540,000 sales to the trade, with annual forecasts expecting around 680,000 bikes to be shipped to dealers, a figure that would represent a 12% growth.

Xiaomi QiCycle Electric Bike Review:
http://www.techadvisor.co.uk/review/accessories/xiaomi-qicycle-electric-bike-review-3663884/

Starts:
Cycling can be hard work, especially over long distances, but Xiaomi's QiCycle builds in an electric motor to help power you along the way.

Ends:
OUR VERDICT

The Xiaomi QiCycle is an expensive but very well-designed electrically assisted pedal bike. It takes the hard work out of long-distance and uphill cycling, and it's easy to monitor your speed, distance and other stats, even over time. We'd like to see the addition of a kickstand and some mud guards, but in other respects our only real complaint is the Chinese trip computer (clearly not a problem if you speak Chinese).

Starts:
Electric bike store Fully Charged is offering free trials on its range of powered mountain bikes.

Anyone can sign up for the opportunity to try out the electric Haibikes at mountain bike Mecca Peaslake. Fully Charged has teamed up with Pedal and Spoke to put on the weekend of mountain bike riding in the Surrey Hills. The team is running three guided tours from 9.30am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, September 16th and 17th.

(Wiki:)
Peaslake, Hoe and Colmar's Hill are in the centre of the Surrey Hills AONB - "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" - and mid-west of the Greensand Ridge about 5 miles (8.0 km) ESE of the county town of Guildford, England point-to-point. Surrounded by denser pine and other coniferous forest-clad hills, the three conjoined settlements have a small core in Peaslake itself (also known as Peas-pottage-lake) with the amenities of a village but are otherwise lightly scattered settlements at a higher elevation than the centre of Shere, the civil parish.

Citizens commend cornucopia of cycles that have wheeled into China’s cities:
http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1066051.shtml

Starts:
"Riding a bicycle is so convenient as it avoids traffic jams and saves time," said Ryan Zhuhonghao, a senior at China's Renmin University. "For me, bike-sharing is a brilliant idea and cycling culture is so useful indeed."

The young man, who spoke as he was unlocking a shared bicycle using his smart phone in Beijing's Haidian District, is one of over 130 million shared bike users in China, which now has around 70 bike-sharing brands operating more than 16 million bicycles nationwide, according to the Ministry of Transport (MOT).

Includes:
Due to safety concerns, one of the guidelines says that children under 12 should not use bike-sharing services, and they are discouraged from getting electric bikes as well.

Electric license

Li Leyun and Lacey Ge, two friends and colleagues at Tsinghua University in Beijing, were riding the same electric bike when they stopped to park on a designated parking lot on the sidewalk.

"The electric bike is faster and more convenient than a bicycle and you can ride it with another person. We don't need to get a license to ride a bicycle but we need it for an electric bike," Leyun told Xinhua.

"Due to safety concerns"... adults are discouraged from operating automobiles.

Colorado’s Bicycle Law Now Includes Electric Bikes:
https://303cycling.com/colorados-bicycle-law-now-includes-electric-bikes/

Starts:
On August 9, 2017, the Colorado law that regulates the operation of bicycles in our State changed again based on the advent of electrical assisted bicycles or “e-bikes.” E-bikes have gained in popularity over the years and there has been a push by the bike industry and People for Bikes to have uniform legislation nationwide so it will be easier to know where to ride each type of e-bikes.

The controlling statute in Colorado for most of the bike laws is C.R.S. Section 42-4-1412* and for electric bikes as defined in C.R.S. Section 42-1-102. This statute was expanded to add the 3 categories or classes of E-bikes.

The "California Disease" as "3 categories or classes of E-bikes".

Removable battery Super Soco electric motorbike reviewed:

Hehe... ESB "Search found 3 matches: +soco"... now four.

Ends:
Hopefully, we might see some extra power and reduced charging times soon, but, more importantly, let’s hope that others adopt a similar removable-battery concept. But until then, you’ll struggle to find a more affordable form of short-distance motorised commuting (without any physical exertion) than this.

Find out more about the bike and your nearest dealer at the Super Soco UK website.

8) Wait'll somebuddy mentions battery swapping to them (AND watt makes pedaling helpful/useful/etc.
