bypass controller

I have come to my senses and will not be bypassing the controller with relay switches. They are too expensive and too much of a pain in the ass to mount and wire . I will be ordering parts to fix my ezip trailz currie bike. will these parts work without any modifications. I will be adding one more 22Ah max life battery for 36 volts

also I need to rewire my batteries I have two mounted to the triangle frame and will be adding a third. I am currently running 16 gauge speaker wire from the empty currie battery case.. should I go to 12 gauge or 10 gauge. will it make any difference. I will also be getting a 36 volt charger. it is three prong male like the 24 volt one. Will the 36 volt charger be ok with the stock empty currie 24 volt battery case?

Controller choice ok. Throttle the wrong one. You need a three wire throttle. So one without the led indicators.

Or, you can wire the 4th, 36v wire to the throttle yourself. Just sayin, the plugs won't be the same. Plugs are like a buck and a half at the scooter supply place.

As for the battery wires, 12 g wire for sure!!!! I'm amazed that speaker wire worked for long. If broke, two small wires can equal one big one. So two strands of 16 g will work.

my bike has been broke for two weeks now. I am a very active person and cannot sit around. I have been walking around every day for miles. Had to go to doctor yesterday. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis and was informed that I need total knee replacement surgery a few months ago. My leg has gotten worse and the doctor says if I don't stay off of it I soon will not be able to walk at all. I have very poor mechanical skills to fix the bike. No bike shops around here will even talk to me about fixing it. I have been trying to find controllers that will plug into a throttle with cruise due to arthritis in my hand.
I do still wish to upgrade to 36 volts and maybe 48 at some future date. But I don't wish to add any more lead batteries as I have two 22AH batteries that weigh about 30 pounds together. Lipo I cannot afford at this time. to make matters worse the tires are bald and I don't know if I can change the back one with the hub motor. I used to struggle to work on a regular bike. Is there a controller out there that is variable from say 24 to 48 volts or higher. also one that I can use cruise control throttle on. I get 100 dollars tomorrow. The insulation from the main wires going to the motor and from the controller rubbed against the rear tire and damaged the insulation. I put electrical tape on it. I need to fix it better. what can I use or does both wires need to be replaced. Also my rear brake broke and the throttle sensor plastic piece is sticking out. HELP!!!!! I am desperate and need this piece of crap to work until I can either fix it right or get another e bike of higher voltage from the start.
for temporary use is it possible to use this to get around as I would rather damage my motor rather than my poor knee.

I would hook up a switch to turn the power on or off on my left handlebar the parallel series switch would be in the 12 volt position to start and would engage at 12 volts when the power switch is on
then I could switch it to 24 volts as needed. I don't see how the motor could be damaged starting out at 12 volts at 225 watts when the motor is rated at 24 volts and 450 watts. This would save me a lot of money and I could afford new brakes and tires with the money I would save a lot of money not getting a controller, extra battery, new charger and new throttle with cruise.

If there is a controller out there that is variable from 24 to 36 or 48 volts for around 50 dollars that will work with this.

I will order it tomorrow. with a new charger, If not then I need to get a spool of 12 gauge wire and the switches.

will any of those controllers work with this throttle.

website is down and cant get that one. where can I get a parallel/series 12 to 24 volt switch. I need to get this bike going. cant fool around anymore with stupid controllers and throttles. I have doctors and lawyers appointments I need to get to and cant be doing all this walking. please let me know. unless I can get a controller variable from 24 to 36 volts which will plug into a throttle with cruise control without switching plugs around for around 50 bucks I will have no choice but to wire this thing up with switches so I don't have to walk anymore.

You can have a 24v controller that has a 3 speed switch, so you can operate at 24v all of the time. Then, if you plan to upgrade to higher voltage, you might as well buy a 48v and set the 3 speed to your preference. Ask Lyen, he will preset a controller to your requirements and ship it quick.

I have waited well over three weeks since my bike broke. I have walked at least 50 miles on a leg that needs surgery. I ordered 100 dollars’ worth of parts. I just spent the entire night hooking up a cheap Chinese controller to a toggle switch hooked up to a pot because nobody on this forum can tell me where I can get a controller that will work with a throttle that has cheap Chinese cruise control.

I didn't get the throttle from dogman yet. UPS delivered it today and someone signed for it
Hopefully it was a neighbor who left for work this morning and I will still get it. I called UPS and they couldn’t even give me a name and address. Could have been anybody walking by. Looks like UPS is a bunch of morons. I would have at least looked at an ID and put the name and address in a computer.

The Chinese controller had a wiring diagram on top but was in Chinese. None of the plugs were the same as the stock currie controller but one. The motor wire on the old one was blue and green, heavy gauge wire. The new controller had a plug the same but the wires were blue and yellow heavy gauge. I plugged in the motor wires.

Now maby yu all can understand why I wanted to bypass the controller with relay switches on
Some of my earlier posts, I knew shit like this was going to happen. I don’t know shit about controllers,

The power wires were totally different plugs but same color wires on both controllers, red and black also heavy gauge wire. I switched the plugs and plugged in the power wire to the switch in the back of the controller box. I made sure switch was off.

The throttle plug should have three wires I thought. Only one plug on the new controller did. I plugged it into the throttle hal sensor plug. Also three wires. New controller wires were blue black and red. old controller were red black and green.

The old controller also had a candanse sensor plug, 2 brake inhibit plugs , a throttle battery plug and a throttle pass tag plug, all left unplugged.

The new controller had three plugs with a red and black wire going to each one. One of the plugs had a sticker on it about the size of a price tag with red Chinese writing on it. All those were unplugged. There may have been a couple other unplugs also.

The three wires for the throttle hal sensor red black and green plugged into the only three wire plug from the new controller which had red black and blue wires. Had to switch plugs again though.as the new controller plug was different,

The three wires coming out of the harness on the right handlebars were the red black and green wires. I hooked the black wire to the on off switch as I knew it was negative or ground. I also hooked the black wire up to the center connector of the pot.

Nothing worked. Bike is still a piece of shit.

Was the throttle hal sensor plug the right plug? . And does the black wire go to the center terminal of the pot? or does it go according to my wiring diagram for the pot and throttle where I used the red wire for the center of the pot and for the on off switch. Please let me know.

If I get the throttle from dogman I will try that. I still want to use both that way I will get full power up a hill with the throttle but still get to use cruise control with the pot by flicking a switch.as I showed on my previous post.

Mounting the switch, pot and three 22Ah lead batteries each weighing 13 pounds to the triangle of the bike with 6 bungee cords only and no gorilla tape this time were my only accomplishments tonight. Used electrical tape for the switch and pot though but everything’s really secure and ready for photos. Silicone over the battery terminals will reduce short probability during wet weather,

If I knew about controllers I wouldn’t be asking you guys. Please help me out here

If you can’t tell me how to hook up this cheap Chinese controller then you could at least tell me where I can get an american or english controller that I can use with a throttle that has cruise control.. Please. send me the links.

And if you cant find me a controller or tell me how to hook up mine then I designed a switch for the bike but need to know who can build it. Should not need resisters on this one, Might not know about cheap chineese controllers but went to collage for electrical technology. need 14 creditis for degree. Will pay experienced ES member for switch.

see my new post Gary fisher new bike. life will be moving on

I have used a automotive relay on a Razor Electric Scooter instead of the Speed Controller. I recorded how I did it and posted a video here: https://youtu.be/MMEqKcgljdw

I may need latecurtis's lawyer (hopefully not TOO late) for this thread, because I nearly died laughing reading it just now. Seriously. What a tale. I sure hope his new bike works out for him!
