This past July we went to Athens, Santorini, Kotor, Messina, Savoca, Amalfi and Barcelona. Anywhere that had some climbing, the bikes were almost all ebikes. These were factory bikes, I didn't notice any conversions.

It looked like some had throttles but it's hard to tell. Riders on some bikes with cadence sensors just did short back and forward pedal movement to make the sensor think the rider was pedaling.

Some of the ebikes were fat tire, but most were regular ebikes. Parked bikes used a frame to bike rack lock and a front wheel to frame lock. Viro Blocca Catena lock and chain setups were nowhere to be seen, Kryptonite or something else is the 2022 choice.

Gas scooters were everywhere, very few Vespas but many were Hondas. Piaggio were more than half, in Athens but less in other places. There were a few escooters that are like gas scooters, but not many. Gas scooters outnumber ebikes by about ten to one.

Barcelona rental rack bikes were a mix of electric and non electric.

We did see a lot of small, standup escooters and a few eskateboards.

Finally, Athens has Da Vinci gelato stores, their dark chocolate is superb, some other stores call it bitter chocolate.

The Ancient tourist places are easy to walk to and are amazing.

Athens and Santorini are very clean, friendly and pleasant. It looked like most tourists were European.
