Magicshine GeoManGear Battery recall

Two months ago, I returned my batteries and supporting documentation to Geormangear for the Battery Recall. Have not heard nor received anything yet. Anyone receive his or her replacement batteries? Magicshine did offer to sell me new batteries for a reduced price which was pretty insulting. Do not get me wrong, I understand every company deals with recall issues but it was insulting they offered to sell new batteries while making me wait for the replacements. Anyone get their new batteries? Our Vermont summers are painfully short, hope they arrive before the first snow!

For this reason, i took a lipo pack that had a dead cell and converted it into a 2S 5000mAH pack, using 50mm turnigy shrinkwrap.

Same upper and lower voltages as the magicshine battery i believe.. you could even charge this with the magicshine charger if so. Working for me just fine :)

Just thought i'd throw that idea out there. If you already have a lipo rig, you're in luck. If you don't have a bad pack lying around, a 2S 5000mAH pack is pretty dang cheap.

I fly RC Planes so have a few lipos but don't have a matching "female" connector to plug in the lights. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

You are in luck; radio shack sells it. It is either the "M" or "N" style plug, and is about $3.50.
Inside pin is positive, outside is negative :)

I actually have made a little EC3 to magicshine connector.. just not featured in the pic.

I know where I'm heading after work! Radio Schack is right down town! Thanks. Glad to know I have a substitute till the batteries arrive. I'm assuming the lights take a 7.4 rather than 11.1 Volt? Most my batteries are 11.1 V, TOO MUCH????? Oh, what is an EC3?

You'll want a 2S pack, so 7.6v nominal, 8.4v at the top of the charge ( conveniently, that happens to be the maximum rated voltage for the magicshine ;) )

EC3 is just a little connector from hobbyking that i bought a buttload of early on in my eBike building, so i use those connectors for my smaller packs.

I run my Magicshine on 13 volts and it works really well! DocBass says they will run up to 18 volts.

Most my battery packs are 2000mah 11.1 volt. How long will they last? Any suggestions? I'm ususally on my bike 1-2 hours in the evening. Thanks.

Mine draws about 0.6 amps at 13 volts so it could run 2-3 hours on 2 ah batteries.

Cut off that DC power plug and replace it with a Deans or similar. I bought a couple of the Magicshine head units and I didn't even turn them on before cutting those things off...

+1 to the cutoff idea. They are just simple 2 wire D/c connections.

Nep, Thanks for the help. Picked up some connectors at Radioshack; soldered on Deans connectors now I have running lights! Having a blast with night riding. Endless Sphere is incredible, always able to find helpful info!!!!!!

I still haven't received my batteries but making due with old LIPOS from my RC Planes. Anyone notice Magicshine doesn't offer the 1400 lumen lights anymore? Mine still running strong.
