My open email to LYEN

There's a sheet of info in the email Lyen sent?

Expecting people to reply to an email/phonecall on a Sunday is wishful thinking from anybody, its a day of rest! If you don't get a reply, just wait until the following day.

On the email, it shows and gives a definition of each configuration setting. Stating what it does and what you can change it to.

This any good to you?

You conveniently picked out 1 small thing to focus on in regards to my email/ post { sunday contact } . This situation goes back to 2 years ago when I recieved a controller that shoulda been properly programmed to 40 volt LVC { not 46 volt } . Now 2 years later, I decided to try and program it properly , and was informed I needed to purchase a seperate USB wire for $18 ...I did that and it came in on Saturday. Its monday, and I still do not have sufficient help from the vendor to give me the info I need to set the LVC of this controller to what it shoulda been set at, 2 years ago from the vendor.

So Ive spent all day emailing/ calling Lyen, and not once has he responded....he did reply this morning, before I got out of bed, but the email he sent had a file which would not download to my computer, I had to find a poster on this forum { bowlofsalad} to spend 1 hour on the phone with me, and fix it.

I dont feel I should have to beg people on this forum for help, when the situation is related to the vendor . If you noticed, the email I sent Lyen, was not nasty ..it just expressed my dissapointment and gave him a few suggestions to maybe avoid such dissapointments from other customers in the future.

Why doesnt Lyen make a 3 minute you tube video to clearly explain these procedures , instead of relying on written links via email, that may have vague terms or terms that many of us cannot understand ? I spent 4 hours yesterday trying to download his link, and it would not download.

So, if anyone on this forum is kind enough.

Can you please show me a simple post/ link/ photograph of the proper numbers to type in the LYEN program window for his 12 FET controller ? Im using a 48 volt lifepo4 battery/ 20A/h , and a 1000 watt rear hub brushless motor . The only thing I wish to change on this controller is the LVC to 40 volts....but all the other parameters are blank windows, so I have no idea what those other parameter settings are, currently set to in my controller.

Just Google, "lyen controller parameters site:endless-sphere.com" and click on Images. You'll find lots of samples. You'll need to know what board/chipset you have.

Click on any image that looks like your screen and then click the "Visit Page" link. There's no substitute for reading to learn more instead of calling for help from a one man shop who works late and who does this in his spare time.

I have never had any problems with Lyens controllers being mis-set and they have performed flawlessly for me. He's also a great repairman. He once fixed a Crystalyte controller for me that he didn't sell!

I wouldn't blame your bike's sitting unused on Lyen. There are many other vendors of controllers out there with full time staffs and who do respond to emails and phone calls quickly. Ah-hem, http://ebikes.ca to name one! :D

Im glad you are happy with your levels of communication with Lyen...

however, I am not...and there are others on this forum who have had simliar experiences I am having.

How would I find out what board/chipset I have ?

Mistakes happen and the fact it took 2 years to figure out the problem doesn't help. Why not you send the controller back and have him to reprogram it as originally desired? That wouldn't cost what the cable and the subsequent frustration has cost.

Throwing a tantrum and "blaming" somebody for a bike sitting in YOUR living room is quite a stretch. Good iggy list material though, thanks...

What about the link to the download in the email?

I have never done it before, and following the instructions I have installed the drivers and the software in under 5 minutes. I'm just awaiting my 12fet from Lyen so I can test it, should be here soon though.

The codes etc were in the link I posted earlier.

I wouldn't expect Lyen to post a 'default' setting for a 48v setup as there are so many variable parameters; direct drive motor, geared motor, lipo, LiFe, LiCo, NiMh and so on.

There is also a vast amount of screenshots on Google Images.

If you cant help, why are you responding ? I blame the vendor for poor communication which results in my ebike still being programmed incorrectly.

heres my serial number

EC- 124110LD

i have a 48 volt lifepo4 - 20A/h battery

1000 watt brushless rear hub motor / direct drive.

I want to keep all the numbers currently programmed in my controller, the same, except for the LVC ....

does this help ?

You need to open your controller up and look at the PCB. I believe it's printed on the board.

From the instructions

"Board Type

This is to select the controller board you have:

a) EB206 = 6 FET controller board

b) EB209 = 9 FET controller board

c) EB212 = 12 FET controller board

d) EB218 = 18 FET controller board

e) EB224 = 24 FET controller board"

Wow....this is all new to me....was never told I had to do this.

Check out this thread. There's a photo of a PCB with the model number on it.

By the way, I am not the only person on here, that has had problems with downloading Lyens programming software link. A poster from this site spent 1 hour on the phone with me this morning, fixing it, because he had the exact same problem I had, and knew the frustration I was going thru, ecspecially when the vendor was not solving the problem.

is this the correct photo ?

and if so, what window is for the LVC that I need to change to 40 volts ?

@sunnyday - Howdy, I know Edward Lyen personally, and He is extremely busy lately. Recently, He mentioned he was in jury duty and let me get hold of him to have him get in touch with you shortly. 8)

I understood, I went ahead get ahold of Edward Lyen anyways I can do help you with the programming however I am no longer using the Windows Vista/7 this moment. So someone else here running windows and run you with the guide.

Do you able see lyen controller's usb in your windows's device manager? I try to remember what i did pre-programmed on my old 12 FETs controller EB212 thru the usb interface.
