Coast Cycles have introduced an electrified version of their awesome little cruiser. The Buzzraw is an electric urban cruiser inspired by american mini-bikes from the 1970s, and features an extra-long saddle with room to fit another passenger, if you want some company during your commute. The e-bike includes chunky three-inch rubber tires (you can choose slick or knobby) that roll over anything with ease, and is available in a variety of options, from the entry level X4 8 speed, to the E250w that can cruise comfortably at 30kph (18mph), and the mental E1000w assisted version that can zip around at speeds of 60kph (37mph). Several accessories are also available such as fenders, a cargo net, foot pegs and cargo racks.

The fascinating world of bitcoin, cryptocurrency and blockchain has birthed an entirely new era of money, value and its organic purpose. Without knowing where all of this financial disruption will end up years to decades down the line, we know learning, researching and ultimately investigating coins, tokens and projects is the best way to start understanding the new wave of bitcoin and alternative cryptocurrencies – and that is why we exist.

Hehe... News from Taiwan getting huge...

(Wiki:)
Taiwan News was founded 6 June 1949 by James Wei as China News, offering news reports and editorials printed on a stencil press. At the time it was the only English-language daily newspaper in Taiwan. In 1960 the newspaper switched to block printing in a full-size page format.

In 1988 publication of the newspaper was taken over by Luis Ko, the then-CEO of I-Mei Foods, and the paper's title was changed to Taiwan News.

On 28 February 2015, the news agency released the last print edition of its newspaper and switched to an all-digital format. It is now published online at in both English and Mandarin versions.

It was eye-catching, to say the least. The bike in front of me was electric purple, with fat, sturdy tires, a headlight and a rack on the back. It also had a power button, a battery, and a throttle. But it wasn’t until I gave that very first push on the pedal that I understood the buzz. It was like gaining a superpower: I was still pedaling, but I was traveling twice as far on each pedal. The sensation was a bit intoxicating; I felt as giddy as if I were first learning to ride, feeling the freedom that comes with escaping on two wheels.

WIRED is the magazine about what's next – bringing you the people, the trends and the big ideas that will change our lives.

Each month, through thought-provoking features and stunning photography, we explore the next big ideas in science, culture, business – wherever innovation and new thinking are reshaping our world.

Since the US edition of WIRED launched in 1993, the magazine has been synonymous with informed and intelligent analysis, and a consistently reliable predictor of change.

The UK edition, launched in April 2009, is similarly committed to bringing you the best writers and photographers; compelling long-form journalism; extraordinary photography and design; and the people, products and ideas that matter.
Citymapper is trying to make sense of London's dockless bike mess
("Citymapper is integrating data from London's dockless bike rental services, adding Ofo and Mobike to an ever-expanding list of options to get you from A to B"):
http://www.wired.co.uk/article/citymapp ... -transport

Starts:
Transport is getting complicated. Standing on a London street corner, you could walk down the street to catch a bus, hop on the Tube, or hail a taxi. But it might be faster to order an Uber, grab a Boris bike, or hunt down a dockless bike — or some combination of the above.

Citymapper is hoping to unpick the mess of mass transit by including even more forms of transport in its journey planning app. The firm has long included docked bicycles such as London's Santander Cycles — better known as Boris Bikes — as one of its transport options, but as some keen users have noticed, dockless bikes are now also being included, alongside dockless scooters, mopeds and other shared transport.

^^ Hehe... Good question... and one Canadian guy wonders how easy the batts are to remove and take indoors if we still have a thing "winter" where ambient temps fall away, especially at nights. Like, if you find one of their bikes, watts w/the battery pack that's missing (it's been removed for indoor warmth...)?

Includes:
The Los Angeles guidelines require operators to pay an annual $20,000 permitting fee and $130 per vehicle; a company that deploys 2,500 vehicles would pay $325,000 per year. However, vehicles in disadvantaged neighborhoods face only a $39 fee.

Ends:
The recommendations still require approval from the full City Council. In a statement to Downtown News, a spokesman for Mayor Eric Garcetti said that he hopes to have a pilot program green lit in the coming months.

The Peak District National Park has partnered with Raleigh to offer a fleet of Motus e-bikes to its visitors.

The Park, which attracts millions of visitors every year, is hoping to encourage more people to cycle across its grounds, specifically highlighting the e-bikes to aid those discouraged by their perceived lack of fitness or ability.

Raleigh has provided eight Motus e-bikes, as well as various conventional builds. According to the company, e-cyclists find even the most challenging hills and inclines “a doddle” while the 15.5mph limit means users can safely cover good distances while keeping with more energetic members of the family.

Bike modified, man charged

Modification of an electric bicycle has led to several charges against a 25-year-old man.

A Belleville police traffic officer stopped a man driving an e-bike along Highway 2 east of Belleville at 7 p.m. July 2. The officer recorded the bike's speed as being 66 km/h.

The bike was “found to be modified so that it would travel at a rate of speed higher than that of the original factory specifications,” police wrote in a news release.

“Once an e-bike is modified in such a manner it no longer is considered an e-bike and falls under the category of an electric motorcycle,” the release continued.

Police charged a man with modifying a bike plus suspended driving and driving while uninsured.

The bike was towed and the man is to appear in court in August. Police warn e-bike owners to be aware of the potential consequences of modifying the bikes.

No, LAPD's New Electric Bikes Won't Lead To Out-Of-Shape Cops:

The Los Angeles Police Department recently unveiled their new fleet of electric bikes, which can reach speeds of 28 mph. (Photo courtesy Bull Bikes USA via Twitter)

Last week the Los Angeles Police Department added 20 new tactical electric bikes to its existing e-bike fleet. But these new bikes provide an extra boost of speed and power.

These bikes will be used to patrol more densely populated areas of the city like downtown. You might spot them in neighborhoods around Crenshaw/Valley boulevards, Venice Beach and Hollywood, according to Sgt. Sam Gong, assistant program manager of the LAPD's Bike Coordination Unit.
Includes:
The e-bikes are still pedal-powered so they aren't some weird motorcycle cousin. But don't let that fool you — these bikes can seriously book it. Topping out at 28 mph, they're poised to surprise pedestrians and motorists alike. They also come equipped with lights and a high-pitched, beep-like siren.

... and:
Sgt. Gong was key in selecting and testing the new model and said they will gives bike officers a huge leg up.

"The ability for officer to maintain stamina after a long bike pursuit is a game-changer," Gong said. "We are able to shorten our response times to get to a scene faster than even a patrol car."
