Oh no...this hasn't been updated in a while. Did the author suffer burnout? :(

Hehe... No. The author was accused from writing "too much" and cut off from posting to "The Sphere"... Instead, have resorted to posting on "Social Media"... where the news about ebikes keeps flooding in... [Smile]:

Really?
Is there a ban for posting too much?

I believed one must break a rule of a forum to be banned, and I never saw any rule on ES about a limit of posts that a user must not exceed. If such a rule does exist, it would be good to know the limit. Daily limit? Total limit?

It is sort of LockH's sub forum , but a useful moderated contribution.

Here is something to check out. I think the scooter issue is germane in a lot of ways.
Many overlapping issues with ebikes

It was a temporary ban, which has expired. I think this stemmed from something on FB, but I don't go there.

I don't think there will be any complaints if you post as much as you want in this topic. Personally, I enjoy your posts.

Thanks F... Re "posting too much"... it's been hard reporting on all the "ebike news" that has been flooding out. Having being shut out of the `Sphere... have resorted to "social media" FaceBook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/321889295290210/
FB Group called funnily enough "Endless Sphere"...

Okay, thanks for sharing. Though I wish there was another medium other than Facebook. I personally try to avoid that site these days...

Davis JW1, Bennink LD, Pepper DR, Parks SN, Lemaster DM, Townsend RN.

PURPOSE:

To investigate whether an aggressive traffic violation enforcement program could reduce motor vehicle crashes (MVCs), injury collisions, fatalities, and fatalities related to speed, and decrease injury severity in crash victims treated at the trauma center.

CONCLUSIONS:

Aggressive traffic enforcement decreased MVCs, crash fatalities, and fatalities related to speed, and it decreased injury severity. This is a simple, easily implemented injury prevention program with immediate benefit.

After two separate battery fires yesterday Lyft pulled all 1,000 Bay Wheels ebikes from the streets of San Francisco just two weeks after they were deployed. One commenter on an article in the San Francisco Examiner mentioned one problem is there is no requirement for e-bikeshare operating companies to have their batteries tested to Underwriters Laboratory standards.

Looks like they should have bought higher quality batteries.

Toshiba is a global company, but they do not make batteries. From 2011 to 2016, they used a battery pack supplier that met the capacity requirement by cramming the the jelly roll into the cylinder with a plastic separator that was sometimes a little too short. There were a few laptop computer battery fires...

The quality of the cells and the quality of the BMS is always an element of concern...

So who's to say it wasn't a terrorist act with a match and some lighter fluid by some disgruntled BART rider/pedestrian type? Personally I think eBike shares are dumb and asking for problems like this and fail to see how they can ever make any profit, which after all is the point eh?

They don't have to make a profit, they have to make headlines so that dumb investors give them some money. Then after a while they have a stock market IPO and skip town.

My city (S.A. TX) has been busy putting in hike and bike trails along every creek in town. They are now connecting them to each other thru bike lanes on main streets. The next stage is trails along rivers and creeks outside of town, when done it will be a vast trail network. While exploring these paths I meet a lot of people walking and riding bikes but no E-bikes. I pass the e-bike rentals and talked with the people who service them but have not passed not one in use. My trike draws a lot of interest mostly the bike part so I use it to inform everyone of the benefits. I would not claim that my town is bike friendly at any stretch of the imagination, hope this will change as the city is putting a lot of money in it.

I can't tell if this bike is an ebike or not, it kind of looks like one, at the start of the video it doesn't look like he's pedalling at all.
But then it appears the guy ran out of batteries and got incredibly frustrated (Twitter-video)
