Hi. Can anyone who knows much about Worksman trikes guide me to a front fork that will fit AND has the capability of mounting brakes (no disk) to the front?

It's been so long that I've replaced forks on a bike that I know nothing about sizing, especially with old school bikes like Worksman.

The trike originally came with a front drum brake, and that's great, but with the hub motor in the front the drum had to go. Unfortunately, that means that I only have a coaster brake. Not good enough, and I can't seem to find anything on Worksman's site that mentions the kind of replacement fork I need, just the one with a tab for drum brakes.

If anyone can point me to something that fits I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Mike

NOTE: I'd really like to learn about a chain driven motor the the trike.

While I like hub motors, if I could drive the rear two wheels it would be ideal. Then I could put the wheel with the drum brake back on the front of the bike, giving it good stopping ability, and then I'd get more traction by driving the two rear wheels with a chain-driven motor. Ideally the chain-driven motor would be as inconspicuous as possible. I'd prefer it (the motor) to be mounted beneath and the batteries in the bed.

Well, if you still have the bent fork from the tree crash, you can take that to a bike shop or a swapmeet or whatever, and see if there's anything that matches it but has the other characteristics.

Optionally, you can simply have rim brake bosses or disc brake tabs brazed or welded to your present fork. (or do this yourself if you have the ability/experience). You can cut htem off an existing fork if you like (it's easy enough). I did that with an entire arch and bosses off a suspension fork and welded the thing onto a BMX U-fork, for Delta Tripper, and it works.

If you didn't need it to look professional, you could also just cut the entire brake boss and arch off a suspension fork, and bolt/clamp it to your fork. Methods did this successfully and I've got a fork I started it on but don't yet have it mounted on the bike to test.

Here's his:

Here's mine; I'm sure I could've done a better job if i'd taken more time cutting the arch off originally:

Regarding chain drive, well, there's at least tens of thousands of posts about that sort of thing here for you to read up on. ;)
