Anyone tried the FSA Metropolis Patterson Crank

Post by Modbikemax » Oct 12 2014 11:38am

I am looking to get another gear on my single speed bike with front hub motor.
I have an Aero spoke rear wheel so I can't lace in a new hub.
Has anyone tried the FSA Metropolis Patterson Crank? It's a 2 speed crank.

I found one review here http://www.joe-bike.com/review-fsa-metr ... -crankset/

I use one, and love it:

I don't use a throttle, so I typically down shift the Patterson when stopping for traffic lights. It helps to crank out that first quarter-turn of the pedals needed to engage my PAS.

Otherwise, it usually stays in high gear.

Could it be fitted to US BB with a BSA adapter? I think it would need to clear an area with a 52mm diameter? Looks like it might be too tight but I would love to know if it is possible.

I have one on my bike and love it. It allows you to pedal when going slow as well as when you are going fast. Very high quality. I also have a couple bikes that I put a Schlumph drive on and I like that as well. Although it costs more. You do have to mount a shifter cable with the FSA and do not with a Schlumph.
