If it's not a big nail, does that make it...a flat minor?

You should see my rim, its off my Townie Electra 21D. Anywayzzzzzz grinding v-brake pads tore through sidewall then on flat tube and tire for 4km another 4km just on rim itself. Wouldnt have been if I had the valve adapter, only been 4km. Heck I even had a studded tire hanging off me.

A few days ago, sidewall of tire tore, had the thorn proof tube, save me. Rode on that puppy for a few days.

Stocked up on more thorn proof tubes today

Slapped in a bolt on wheel, pop that out for the QR on my Townie.

This thread is from 2015.

Change to moped rims and tires, way fewer flats.

That is the plan, slowly but surely!

TBH I did not see the year, I do remember this thread though that is why I posted here. I thought that it was a year old thread maybe. Time flies by so fast these days. Was rough going, idiots driving, flat, riding rim, slipping, sliding, students going home, rush hour, train was too full. Tomorrow's another day.

rim hit something and broke chunk from bead.

sharp edges poked tube with 5 miles to go.

removed tire/tube then rode home about 10-12mph.

I bet dogs were barking miles away...

I used to see a guy down in Ventura (CA) riding a bike sans tires on the rims... for about 2 years!

definitely garnered some looks passing by

i myself couldn't hear dogs barking or much of anything.

timbre of noise/sound changed considerably between asphalt vs concrete

vibration throughout the bike felt like an engraver

mid drive made quite a difference being easy wheel to remove roadside and strong power to this abomination

main accomplishment is that it worked better than pushing/walking long distance

Same thing, vbrake metal tore through rim, punctured tube, fuckit rode home, but my rim was more mangled then yours, but my rim was a Townie 21D, not as beefy as yours looks.

This explains my rescue call, thankfully a bus was nearby, 3rd bus had a rack. With a rear flat, and a stretched out cruiser, the bike barely fit in the rack. Thankfully the bike stayed on the rack. There is another one or two cracks on other spoke holes on the rim. This needs to hold up for another week.

You know that's how it goes when you have Lincoln Logs instead of proper spokes.

Yup, I know, and to top it off it cost me C$85 for the spokes and nips.... locally, another C$40 for the guy to lace it because I just wasnt feeling the joy. The cherry on top, the the spokes crossed over at the valve LOL Was all done last year. Reminds me gotta find another backup rim. 2 of everything! LOL
