First wireless charging station from solar energy

The TUDelft - the University of Technology in Delft, Netherlands - has been working on a wireless charging station for electric bicycles that operates from solar energy. The result of this work was presented on Wednesday October 12.

The electric research bicycle is fitted with a double stand with a small coil. The bicycle can be parked at the charging station by placing its stand on a magnetic tile. The bicycle is then charged directly via the coil. The bicycle user can follow the charging progress on a built-in screen in the charging station or on their mobile phone. The wireless charging takes no less or more time than the 'conventional' charging of electric bicycles.
