I have an idea. for a product. You don't need a work stand, to hoist the bike for MOSt maintenance items.

So, a PVC pipe, that has a cheesy attachment, and a swivel on other end, that will clamp, and Velcro, and any other attachment way I can add.

This will mean that the bike, for all intents and purposes has a kickstand. So, you can clean the bike and maintain it, on not remove wheels.

This could be light, and left in trunk. NO MORE LAYING IN THE DIRT.

iT IS SIMPLY AN ARM, THAT ATTACHES TO YOUR BIKE, AND A RAIL, CAR HANDLE ETC. yOUR BIKE WONT FALL over, and, you don't have to set bike in dirt.

Robocog,

We hear you. You don't want your bike falling over and you don't want to work in the dirt anymore.

How is your idea different from a kickstand? Is it longer? stronger?
Does it lift the wheels off the ground?
Where do you attach it to the bike?
Why PVC instead of a 2x4, or a steel fence post?

A picture is worth a thousand words.

I made a bike stand once out of a 6x6 wood post and 3/4 plywood triangles as the feet. I was surprised how much it wobbled. Even the 6x6 post twisted when I reefed on the bike.

It attaches between top tube, and OBJECT. To simply stand it upright, for MOST tasks. So, a TRUE mountainbike, that should NEVER have a kickstand, can stay nice, and you can keep it clean and unscratched.

Have you tried flipping it upside down. That is a pretty convenient standing position for a bike that you have to service in the trail.

Ok kiddies. I have a prototype. Here is the candy. Since no one pays attention without bling, I got you covered.

I need to cut some Puffy Yoga mat endcaps, for the PVC pipe, to be all gentlelike on the paints. Then, it will remain in tension.

IMPORTANT, the strap is the FLUFFY side of Velcro.

For those in Australia, you can pour salt on the tail of the nearest Ostrich, and attach to it.

Usually, an environmentalist can be handy, I have used Audobon birders. They are keeping still anyway.
