Pedal Go Kart to Electric Go Kart

My friends son dropped off an old pedal go kart a few weeks ago. Finally got around to starting this project. Ive converted several E scooters and made an RC FPV lawnmower 2 years ago without to many problems. This however is my first electric go kart conversion. The picture below is after the pedals have been removed and cleaned up and stripped down, etc. I have a nice 48V 1600W Brushless motor and esc for this build. Anyone that has bought or built an electric go kart, do you guys have a steering wheel or a handlebars on it? Im debating that very question. Would you rather have a throttle and brake on the handle bars or use foot pedals for a go kart? That and what are you using for brakes? V brakes, calipers, disk, etc? If you guys have any pictures, that would help me a lot visualizing it. Thanks for any input.
