Electric Bikes sales/deals thread..

Post by sonnetg » May 15 2018 5:57pm

I thought of creating this tread being inspired from "Why haven't e-bikes gotten cheaper?" thread. Link: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=93965

It's hard to keep track of new dealers and deals all the times, so I thought if everyone could come and chip in, it would be great place to compile all the current deals that are out there related to ebikes. Being out of the game for a while, I am actually surprised how things have changed and how the prices of ebikes have fallen.

I will start out with what I think is a great deal as of today:

1. Qulbix 76 Bicycle Frame Kit: https://qulbix.com/qulbix-products/part ... -frame-kit
The 76 Frame Kit was about 1200 Euros few years back, now it is almost half the price.

2. Haibike SDURO HardFour 4.0: http://lonestar-ebikes.shoplightspeed.c ... googlebase
The Haibike SDURO HardFour 4.0 for $999. That's a hell of deal. Could serve great as a backup or fit perfectly for shorter folks.

3. Haibike SDURO FullNine 5.0: http://lonestar-ebikes.shoplightspeed.c ... gJ2pPD_BwE
Haibike SDURO FullNine 5.0 for $2K, that's an amazing deal.

4. A fixer upper: Cyclamatic Power Plus CX1 for $549: https://www.amazon.com/Cyclamatic-Elect ... ctric+bike
The Cyclamatic Power Plus CX1 can be great spare bike to use for any group rides with family or friends. I can see the potential in this.

Anyways, at the end it all boils down to the value we perceive. I personally prefer the DIY route because i can never have enough batteries, which is the most expensive component of an ebike. Being able to personalize and fix your own bike is priceless to me..

Anyhoo...moderators, please feel free to merge this thread any similar threads, but I think it would be nice to see a trend and some hot sales going in one thread. Hope to see big brands like Stomer and Stealth deals some day :D

Cheers

Funny

I was cruising home on the road today.
Look over and see a hub on a bike, so I double back around, and throttle up close to it.
Its an orange HAI BIKE with a flat tire. Then I see a fancy dancy PAS on the BB.
I wondered how many thousands of dollars they spent on that.
Then I looked at the motor again, it had bumps on the flanges like the SAW motor.
Then I twisted my throttle and was doing 52kph in no time!

Yesterday, say a Bionx 20" folder on the train.

Seeing more and more of them now. Is it good, sure it is.

I prefer no 32kph limit for store bought ebikes.
DIY all the way.

Very true. When I first started, cost was a major factor for taking the DIY route. I already had numerous bicycles, which was easy to convert. As for big manufacturers, they have ridiculous rules and regulations to abide by. It's downright crazy and stupid on what's going on in NY. Police fining ebikers and seizing their bikes. It's completely nuts! I really hope it does not trickle over in DC or Maryland. I try to be as stealth with my ebike as possible. If I had to start all over again, I probably would have just bought an off the shelf ebike now, and it would have been much cheaper that way too. I am glad to see some sales happening every now and then, especially on the older models. I will try and post and update this thread if I find anything interesting.

Interested only in North America? "Problem" two-fold... Manufacturers now jumping aboard the ebike train/steam roller... and cities and countries now jumping aboard offering discounts and rebates of hundreds of dollars. Haven't "read the fine print", but suspect this is for "store bought"... leaving DIY folks in the dust financially.

Nothing earth shattering, but not bad for 50% - 2016 Stromer ST1 for $1699. Thought would share this as well. Probably a good way to keep track of all the "Turn-key" eBike vendors to keep an eye on: :D

Another good ebike for the Price - $1999. The price wen't up a bit, but still not a bad deal for under $2k. I always loved the simplicity and clean looks of Riide eBikes.

That Haibike SDuro FullNine 5 had me very interested. Called up a dealer and after about 30 minutes of comparing the model line, I ended up with a FullNine 6 which featured the 500w battery.

To be honest, I would have settled for the HardSeven 6 ( I REALLY wanted a plus tire), but that was out of stock everywhere, so rather than admit defeat and keep shopping, I spent a bit more and went with the FullNine 6. For the trails that I ride (90% rail trails), I felt the larger battery and 29" tires were a better fit.

For a very very cheap foldable, eBike or maybe for first time users who are not afraid of thikering a bit, or for people like me who dont want to fork out too much cash in the repressive concentration camp of NYC, i got this 20 inch 250W foldable eBike for 630 USD and 20 usd shipping. Tops out at 15.5mph which is already pretty awesome as is, but I'm currently working on a 48V battery with Vruzend V2 legos to replace the 36V one as contoller can work on both modes and i ordered a 11-30T DNP freewheel to replace the 14-28 shimano freewheel and a 60T chainring to replace the 48T chainring. So ai can pedlwnormallya 25 mph

Im talking about the anchherfolding eBike:

Ancheers seem to be pretty decent for the price. Any idea what type or brand cells the battery packs are made of? I am wondering if the cells are re-purposed or brand name cells. I have seen few youtube videos and many users raving over the Ancheer ebike.

I finally decided to get a cyclamatic ebike to tinker with. I got it off amazon for $479. It was $550, but I got it additional $80 after i applied for amazon credit card. I could not refuse the offer

Anyways...long story short...the bike did exceed my expectation. The frame is steel with thick dropouts, which is what I was really after. The bike has some good potential to be upgraded down the line.

The weakest point with this bike is the battery. The factory (SANIK?) 8.8Ah isn't really enough for hilly terrains. I got only 12 miles on flats by ghost pedaling. This bike does not come with a throttle.

Anyhoo...some pics for anyone curious about this bike...I have some plans to upgrade the electronics down the line. This should turn out be a nice project bike, once it is painted and upgraded.

cheers.

Some pics to njoy...
