I'm vacationing Montreal this summer, looking for a hotel with safe indoor parking. Any tips/suggestions? Locking bike to rack is easy but how do I prevent vandalism/damage to my bike? https://www.mtl.org/fr/explorer/quartiers/ouest-de-l-ile

Check with the hotel. Many have a storage room either behind the check in area or within eyesight that area that you can use. Next best is to bring the bike into your room.

I tell people to try and make your ebike blend in with other regular bikes. Dont have wires and gadgets sticking out. Dont clean it. Make it not stand out. It's best to take the battery pack with you. I use 2 kryptonite U locks on my ebike. Never had a problem with theft or vandalism.

#1 choice - Bring the bicycle in to the room with you. Then if you have to, undo the handlebars and twist them.

That would not take up much room at all inside your motel room, and its easy to do. Any average motel room in North America has plenty of room.

#2/3 choice - Inside the vehicle

#2/3 choice - motel storage room, locked to something inside the room. Most motels would have that.

Many hotels downtown have underground parking and security. Some smaller hotels have indoor bike lockers. In the center, it is not difficult to find a safe parking with surveilance.

If you are not in the center, some bike shops can shelter your bike at night, if you can live with their opening hours. You could also rent a private garage indoor parking space for your car and bike, for the time you are in Montreal.

Montreal is biking friendly, and pretty safe.

Stay where you can bring the bike inside the room. Or do something so the bike at least gets to be in the vehicle.
