This week has been a good one for innovation in the electric bicycle industry, with two major players both unveiling new designs for mid-drive motors built specifically for electric mountain bikes.

Brose dropped the new Drive S Mag, a magnesium update to their previous Drive S that both increases power while reducing weight, and Shimano showed off their new STEPS E7000 motor, designed for recreational riding.

The title should have included something along the lines of "so you can do wheelies with less effort"...

I'm beginning to realize how heavy my bike is lugging it up a few steps... Ouch
 
That belt tensioner on the brose motor looks like the same bad design that GNG was using on their dual-reduction mid drives. That thing ate belts for breakfast. I hope brose is using a better belt that can handle the deep pinch like that.
