Hey all, long time lurker and finally getting around to posting something. I'm thinking about swapping the stock controller for a VESC or other off-the-shelf sinewave like grin so that I can push beyond 60v. Does anyone have experience running the BBSHD controller on other motor types and configurations? I'd like to reuse it for another (simpler) build.

It can run pretty much any typical brushless motor with hall sensors. I have a small motor I use for bench testing and it works great.
You would still need the display, throttle, and speed sensor. The speed sensor needs to have some signal or the controller will time out and turn off. The signal could be spoofed with a simple pulse generator if you don't have the speed sensor.
