I need a new power supply!!! Help.... :-)

Damn that sucks. Did you have a look inside to see if you can spot the cause? In my experience these supplies are fairly serviceable.

My Meanwells have gone through a lot, they've been dropped accidentally countless times, outputs shorted once while charging and kept on ticking. They are the HRP-24-300, I have two in series good for 48V and 15A, no mods needed, use straight out of the box.

If however you look at the HRP-48V you will find the ampere rating much lower and if you want higher, they usually require 240V outlet.

The "copies" I dunno about, they might work in cc/cv mode which is whats needed, but how long would they last, who knows.

I've been thinking of this, and I dunno if it will work or not, but buying a Meanwell psu, and using one of those "copies" to target a specific charge current. For example, using a single HRP-24-300 which spits out 14-15A and a generic copy of 12V 10A to achieve 36V 10A. As an example. Going the other way, a bunch of 10V copies of say 25A in series to achieve, say 48V 25A charge.

Going on a tangent now, but still O.T. for anyone reading in the DIY mood.
I remember seeing a video of an ES user in an Eastern Canada coast city of Moncton, putting together a bunch of laptop chargers to get what he needed.

I hope its ok to post this.....

the only other relevant video is opening laptop charger - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EoZQKwbK3Y
cant find a vid on how he put it together.
