Hey guys,
I'm going to be buying a new prebuilt ebike soon, and I've realized a city-styled bike isn't for me due to very poor roads here, a MTB is what is needed, and franky, I prefer them.
I've been debating whether to go for a Specialized Levo https://www.proteasport.hr/proizvod/sb190369/specialized-levo-ht-men-29, Levo comp https://www.proteasport.hr/proizvod/sb190381/specialized-levo-ht-men-comp-29 or the Kross Level Boost 1.0 https://www.proteasport.hr/proizvod/kb19033/kross-level-boost-10-29 which seems to be the best offer for the money, Levo Comp costs 1.35k euros more, which I don't think it justifies with it's specs, and finally, the regular Levo has mediocre specs at best.
The bike will mostly be used to travel to work and back, a 6km trip each way, with a relatively short, but steep hill to reach my house, which isn't fun in the least with sun hitting at 40 degree weather at 4pm. Along with some joyrides in the forest right by my house, trips to the local lake and such.
My government is giving a 700euro cashback for ebike buyers if you win their competition (send in the papers within the first XX number of people) which I should technically be getting.
So the Kross could end up costing 1.68k euros, at which pricepoint it sounds like an amazing deal.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but a shimano motor with all shimano parts apart from the frame, steering wheel and the disc brake doesn't sound too bad to me.
I've tried it out in the store, and The Levo Comp feels stronger, but I dislike the high cost compared to the Kross, it felt just fine with the incredibly limited time I've tried it out within the store.
Side question, does the Shimano Steps system allow 3rd party batteries? 850e for a new battery isn't very realistic for my country's economy, when I could grab a new 36V 14Ah battery from em3ev for 450$ with shipping. I've read that Bosch has a very closed system that declines 3rd party batteries? Is that right or did I get it wrong, is it just about the connector?
Eitherway, I'm sorry for the lenghty post, my lack of knowledge and overspecification, but I hope you'll be able to help me out
Thanks!
