Powervelocity 12F controller problem.

Post by Archer321 » Apr 05 2021 9:59pm

I'm trying to use a Powervelocity 12F controller to run a sensorless Ryobi 40v electric mower motor.
It'll run up fine to 3600rpm unloaded, but when I put it under load, it starts glitching and jerking at about 2500 rpm and 500watts.

Thoughts?

I tried switching phase wires around at someone's suggestion and also tried a different throttle.
No improvement.

Turns out the controller was not liking my 36v pack. It would drop out whenever the voltage dropped below 36v. I was under the impression that this controller would work with a 36v pack but apparently not. It let's me set the low voltage limit down to 28v in the programming.
Oh well.
It's hard to find a decent 36v 2kw controller.

36-42V is pretty right on the money for a higher power VESC, providing you need it for less than 40A continuous, I would definitely go with a V6 ZESC, TB6, Stormcore single, makerx mini FOC plus or a maytech 200A. They're all pretty small and installation should be a drop in for your powervelocity 12F.
