Hi, I just bought this controller : http://www.amazon.com/Sunwin-Electric-Bicycle-Brushless-Controller/dp/B00DBM9HSK

Is anyone here running it with 9C hub motor and would be so kind to tell me the wiring combination (hall and phase)?

Thank you so much!! :)

Could be self study (join 2 white wires with matching connections)
connect motor and hall wires, matching colors.
connect power.
you don't need the throttle yet.
identify the on / off wire (lock, should be red), connect to positive.
motor will run and self study. if in reverse direction, disconnect and reconnect white wires.
If it runs properly disconnect white wires.
Now you can use the throttle.

Is it really this simple? I have never heard of this test.. So I dont have to try all the 36 combinations?

Yes it works

Can I than ask what exactly is the procedure?

This is as was posted above:

and this is different instructions found on the internet:

1. Make sure your battery / power supply can deliver enough power.;
2. Plug in the Black and Red power line;
3. Engage self-study wire;
4. Connect the key wire (Orange) to +V and the motor should start spinning;
5. Let it spin for awhile for the controller to learn the phase angle of the Hall probes;
6. Disconnect self-study wire and the motor should stop, DO NOT ramp up throttle at this stage as it will make the controller unlearn step 5;
7. Disengage Key to let the controller save the configuration, DO NOT disconnect the Power wires!;
8. Reconnect the Key wire, and self learning is done, motor should now respond to throttle command.;
9. Configuration is now permanently stored, power cable can now be unplugged without erasing the self-learned configuration.;
10. Enjoy!

So what exactly are the steps? thank you!

I hooked it up yesterday, so going from my memory...

Hooked it up, with wheel off ground and turned on controller (Connect small red wire). Twist throttle and motor will not turn, grunting sound. Hooked up 2 white wires and motor spun correct direction. Disconect 2 white wires, and throttle works normal. Done.

no, the motor will just start spinning, that is why you need the wheel off the ground

Both are basically the same, I would follow the 2nd one (lower one), because it is more detailed and fail safe
