Anybody running one of these on a bike yet? Spec sheets look good but so do most spec sheets. :D I'd be really happy to have 30kw bursts out of a single outrunner that fits in the palm of my hand!! Intro price looks great too! $329USD

I ordered a 8057-100 a few weeks ago (edited wrong info on pricing) The reverse shaft option (get the drive out the "firewall" side) was $25 IIRC, the shaft is flanged and can't be simply slid back.

They appear to be the same as the LeoMotion 80XX Series

http://www.leomotion.com/pi.php/LEO-L8038-140.html (8038 for example, the sizes and Kv are identical to the Neu models - not sure who is the chicken and who is the egg, but Neu has historically not been a manufacturer of outrunners until just a couple of years ago)

But I scrapped the idea in favor of a 4015/1Y and haven't got that yet. Hellishly expensive with finned can and fan option.

I was mistaken, the intro price was still good as of June 5, invoice was for $399. Not sure what I was thinking there.

The 4015 is just an inrunner, I have more luck with inrunners. It's funny, I don't really care for outrunners but found myself ordering one. Then in mid-order found out that they really do sell the 40XX inrunners (I'm still theorizing here, having not yet laid hands on one) so I changed my order. I've never seen one in the wild or read of anyone who has, but they claimed to have the 1Y stators wound and supposedly able to complete the motor in a few weeks. We'll see. If nothing else I guess I can have them send the outrunner.

I was going to run the 100Kv outrunner on 14S lipo, but the 180Kv inrunner would make a better 12S motor and would still just squeek by on 14S if never run WOT unloaded.

Not familiar with what a 4015 is.

Here ya go, I mistakenly called it a 40XX before, it's 44XX. It's got an enclosed fan built into the rear of the housing so I think the housing is what would be used on the next longer stator, and the finned case brings the diameter to just under 5".

Money well spent I think. A fan can probably double the continuous power output of that motor. If you wanted to make your own fan and take the time to do surgery on the motor to install it you would easily spend $125 worth of time and materials.

Oh yeah, I had no trouble paying that - in fact when I ordered, I thought it was going to be $125 for the fins plus $125 for the fan. So a pleasant (as could be, I guess) surprise when it was just $125 total for both.

What was your total price if you don't mind disclosing?
What frame is this going into. Do you have a build thread going yet?

$1080 I think is correct - the base price is $955 and the $125 for the fan/fin option. No build thread.

Wow! That's a little more than I expected you to say based on the $400 outrunners and their claimed specs. Its not entirely surprising though if they are custom hand made to order in the USA. Looks like a really nice motor. How do you plan to control it?

Yeah, it's not really a motor for the budget minded - or anybody, really. You can get an Astro for a lot less that'll get the job done. I absolutely didn't post about it to suggest anybody run out and buy one.

I'm not sure what the deal is on those outrunners. They appear identical to the same range of motors from Leomotion, I don't know if those are made in the US or Switzerland... or either. I've been using Neu inrunners for years (and still have a bunch of them laying around even though I dont fly any longer) while the masses used less expensive outrunners, so I'm used to the cost differential. I just never warmed up to the lower efficiency and sync issues guys were willing to put up with outrunners. But they are far and away the more popular choice, so what do I know.

Controllers, not a lot of choices, I have big Castle and Jeti - I doubt Neu would even entertain adding sensors and there's zero magnetic field outside the end of the can, they'd have to be stuffed inside there someplace.
