Hi!
Im new to this forum. Started with ebikes about two months ago and i cant get enough.
I have a problem. I use a hub drive motor and i like it, but the threads is not the greatest i have foundout.
i have busted the threds in the axel and need help from the guys with experience on this topic. With no good threads there is no way i can bolt and clamp it down enough for it to stay in the bikes frame.
What should i do, exept replace the whole thing.
sorry for my crappy english
best regards from a NOOOOOBIE

Oh shit, that is so clever!
I knew there was inserts coils you can put in like busted sparkplug holes but not something you can put on like a sleve. Can i find this on ebay maybe?

To start do you have a torque arm? if not this will help locate the axle and requiring the axle nut to need less effort. A thicker nut will also help spread the load on the threads once you find a fix.

Alternately, instead of worrying about the axle nuts at all, you could build clamping dropouts or pinch dropouts(a forum search will turn up quite a few posts about this), and they will secure the axle using the flat sides. Just make the clamping surface mate with as much of the axle flat as possible, and you won't even need axle nuts. ;).

My SB Cruiser rear wheels are secured on the inner axle end this way, with a nut only on the outboard axles.

A couple of possible searches (yes, it's a lot of results)
