Equipmake's spoke motor

Huh. ESB "Search found 0 matches: Equipmake"? Interesting... maybe... :)

... an electric motor that has its magnets arranged like spokes around the central hub...

Wonder how well that cooling jacket and them cooling channels are working? Would be fun to see a real world test of such a motor.

Ariel has finally revealed a bevy of details about its upcoming ultra-high performance, range extended, electric sports car project – HIPERCAR. Keep in mind that ‘HIPERCAR isn’t the car’s actual name as an official one has yet to be decided upon. The car will only make its full public debut in 2019, with production slated to begin in 2020 alongside existing models like the Atom, Nomad and Ace. Project HIPERCAR is undertaken by Ariel together with its partners Equipmake and Delta Motorsport, where phase one involves developing the car’s two powertrains that will be shown at Low Carbon Vehicle (LCV) Show September 6-7, 2017. Yes, the unnamed electric sports car will be available in two- and four-wheel drive, the latter being the most powerful configuration. Powered wheels are driven by inboard electric motors via integral, single speed step-down gearboxes direct to driven wheels, and each individual motor develops 295 hp (220 kW) and 450 Nm of torque.
Seen here from August, last year: Ariel HIPERCAR project officially announced – 1,180 hp, 1,800 Nm, 0-100 km/h in 2.4 seconds.

Some pics from another article about it... one of the design goals was cheap manufacturing, so it uses cheap low grade magnets that are actively cooled, and is backed by Ian Foley, known for designing some F1 active suspension and kinetic energy recovery systems.

Hehe... ESB "Search found 223 matches: epicyclic"... as in an epicyclic gearbox... Apparently can look like this:

We got one of those epicyclic gearboxes here on this very forum already if I am not mistaken. The Tangentdrive by Dave, isn't that using the same principle for the gearbox?

I wonder what kind of oil flow they locked in in order to cool the motor.

The 120R motor looks interesting for a motor ran at 720v. I wonder how proud ($$) of that motor and inverter setup they are?

Anyone contacted Equipmake about these?
