12 FET 84-132V High Voltage Racing Controller - LYEN $199
Re: 12 FET 84-132V High Voltage Racing Controller - LYEN $19
Hey Everyone,
For all of you that know me i have run a 24 mosfet irfb 4110 controller with 145v of a123 for months .. even before lynn has released his controllers in for sale thread
Lynn
You must modify r115 as per knuckles .. IT WILL FAIL; I gaurentee it, I've had failure 2 times since march 2010; that ive been running this controller
R10, r11, r12... WILL BURN OUT
the current is to high ..
I could even take a photo of the resistors on my board... the resistors are turning brown due to the heat over last 3 mnths
I don't want to hurt your thread... but buyers must beware that if they but this board .. it will faill .. may not be for a few months ... but it will happen..

Hello Steveo!
Thanks for letting me know another potential failure. Yes, please take a picture of your "browned" resistors on your circuit board. May I also ask what was circuit board revision that failed on you? I appreciate it!

Lyen

Hi Lyen, in light of SteveO's post, do you mind if I wait until the issue is resolved before I pay you the remainder of the money I owe you for the controller?
Thanks.
PS I am sure SteveO is a legit dude who just wants the best for forumites....

Hi Mighty!
Yes, I would not sell any controllers with potential issues. The potential issue that Steveo suspected is being escalated and reviewed by the engineers from the manufacturer and me. I will get back to you once it is clarified.

Edward Lyen

Re: 12 FET 84-132V High Voltage Racing Controller - LYEN $19
Hi, Lyen,
I have a few questions on the controller I just received from you:
You posted the mod June 5, and sent mine out June 9. Does it have the resistor mods to it as pictured above? I just want to make sure.
. Your screenshot on page 1 shows parameters for an 18fet (EB218) board. All the examples I find from Methods are for EB218 boards as well. Can you provide the .asv file for this EB212 (12 fet) board showing the default values for all the parameters ?
Can you just change and flash one parameter value, or do you have to populate them all ? I don't want to upset the rest of defaults values.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: 12 FET 84-132V High Voltage Racing Controller - LYEN $19
Here is the remedy. I have engaged a bunch of people from the manufacturer for the potential issues that was mentioned by the young fellow Steveo again. I was told by the engineer and designer of the circuit board being used was good as is. But to relief the worrying of people, here are more changes as shown on the pictures below. The R115 resistor will not turn brown. The possible reason was because Steveo operated his controller at 145-150v which was not safe to begin with. The engineer told me the R115 resistor can sustain 15 degree Celsius above normal operation temperature. The engineer has also said switching power circuitry for voltage regulation is embedded onto the circuit board, so the additional VR or voltage regulation circuitry is unnecessary. Resolved.

Hi Lyen, in a PM you mentioned 18 Fet and 12 Fet.
I have a basic notion, more fet's = better.
Is this correct.
How much is the 18 Fet controller?
Thanks.

Here is the link for the 18 FET High Voltage controller I am also selling:
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewto ... 31&t=18605
In theory, more MOSFETs can generate more power with less heat. But a properly optimized configuration between battery and motor and price are also important. In addition, enclosure size, range, weight, and battery discharge ability should be consider.

... I have nothing to hide? ... why would i?.... the resistors are very very small .. but i will do my best to take a photo for you... i think i need a magnify glass for everyone to see... i will try without one...
i have not yet found a proper fix... but my guess would be a higher wattage resistor.

Steveo & lyen I fried my r12 in my 18 fet methods controller its just to small the disapate that much heat. I used a 1/8th watt resistor and mounted it up off the bord and its fine now.

Thanks for getting back to me on your PM. The 18 FET Infineon Controller you have purchased from Methods was built using a legacy circuit board. The one you are looking at here does not have the legacy electronic component such as the LM317 and the 7805 voltage regulators. In addition, I have replaced the on board SMD resistors network to sustain high temperature. Again, I have spoken with a few engineers/circuitry designers and executed what needs to relief the worrying from potential buyer although they thought it may not be necessary.

Here's the latest video from an Italian running his electric bike at 116.8V with the Crystalyte 5305 motor using 32 of Headway 38140 cells in series along with the EC124115 controller. He was running at 70-92 KPH or 43.5-57 MPH. You may noticed the sound from his low speed high torque motor sounded like a jet engine when running at high speed. I have asked for his approval to share the video with us.
