Matt,
Are you planning to make extra install kits for those who already have your drive and want to use it on the motoped :D

Thanks

Yes. I plan on making subframe mounts that use the standard motoped engine mounts to adapt my drive. Also, one of my customers is developing a kit using my drive with his own mounts as a complete kit for sale.

I am not trying to hijack this thread, though. So, back on topic. :)

It is going to be exciting to see how the e-Motoped performs given the stresses will be quite different than on a regular bike, even a bike running trails. The amount of jumps and jolts and such will probably stress the drive line, motor, controller, etc greater than on a regular bike. Hope we see these before too long.

some of you might have already seen this if you are a member of the endless sphere or motoped facebook group...for those of you who havent:

ive always been interested in the motoped frames...finally took a few hours to model the frame and play around with a few things. plenty of space for batteries! pictured are 240 40c 5000mah lipo - 4440wh worth. the motor is john in cr's hubmonster

Yay! Got my Motoped frame. Quality is great, very happy with frame. The new stiffeners look to be well planned. I had ordered the frame and upgraded suspension. Have not received the front or rear shocks, I assume that will come in a separate box. Packaging was first rate. I will post pics tomorrow.

Awesome
Good to know they've gotten over their shipping hurdles.
Good luck in the build. I'm excited to see some electrification of this frame set

Unfortunately, I will be going gas on this build. I have too many electrics at the moment and can't get the range I want. I will be looking into how easy it will be to change out giving me the best of both since the motor mount is just 4 bolts. If I see others with an impressive electric setup that might get me to veer from the darkside.

It would be great if we had a cad work of the frame in either a STEP file format or any other CAD format. This would make it easier to work out different combinations. With the electric versions having the motor mounts integrated with the battery mounts would create a stronger frame, and would be the approach I would do. There are mounting points on the top bar, I can work with any cad file members have started and correct to dimensions.

Even tho your going gas, could you still share your build with us?

Absolutely, I will start a thread on it since it makes a good ebike frame.

Man, I am so excited to get mine!

If I like it enough, I may build a gas version too because of the ease and low cost of it. Of course, my electric build will be primary in my stable, though. :-)

I have a motoped frame and one of Matt's drives, and I'm waiting for the rest of the kit. I started an unofficial Electric Motoped page and group on facebook. I'm building it as open source and posting my progress as well as trying to keep track of other builds. For anyone else building or interested in building one of these please join up.

Thanks,
Gary

Anyone know if it's possible to buy just the motoped frame for a electric build?

What's happened to the e-motoped since 2015 ? Did they ever bring a production model to market ?

Yes, production went ahead as planned- the sold and expanded the range
The bloke who did it had a falling out with his wife who ended up shooting him.

Such a pity but given the style of bike and where it would be today.

Wow thanks. That's not quite the response I was expecting ! I see Hi Power make a complete bike based on that frame.

Motopeds are still available on the market and available as a frame kit or complete motored bike (ice engine).. the inventor, Cam Woods sold his patent design to pitbike company Motovox and they are still in production.. there is also now a licensed usa manufacturer in Sturgis South Dakota :

https://www.motocruzin.com

I talked with one of the owners of motocruzin recently and they are working on bringing electric and hybrid motopeds to market soon..

motopeds with electric kit are also available from HPC Hi-power Cycles.. :
