Yeah sorry I've been offline alot - in and out of hospital or otherwise out of action. Trying to make and keep this group buy happening is pretty much all I've been doing when I get online so apologies for not replying to all the PMs and emails. I've read them all (often on my phone where it's too hard to reply) but I've been waiting until I have a firm update to post here to save writing the same thing a dozen times.
Anyway the long and short of it is the 5400 order is placed and done but I do have a plan B for those who missed out. That plan B is the alternative new 40mm motor that was talked about earlier in this thread - basically a bigger version of the Hx35. IMO this is actually a better option for general and offroad use due to it's lighter weight (4kg less than the 5400) This is what I'll be fitting to my new offroad build rather than the 5400. In order to get them at all I've had to buy a alot more than I want but I'll use these to build up a one off limited run of new high performance kits.
Those who get in early can pre-buy one at the group buy price - otherwise the only option will be to buy the whole kit - which I'll obviously be selling at above my cost price to cover all the time and effort I've put into this - let alone the thousands I've had to invest up front. These will be more aimed at noobs but obviously ES members are welcome to them too.
As for what's been ordered, the following gangsters have busy chinese hands weaving them a 135mm 5404 in a 26" rim (differences stated in brackets)
Rusted Hen (2)
Skycaptain (2 - 1 with 150mm axle)
Oldhaq (24" rim)
Snowchild (150mm axle)
Nanoha (150mm axle)
Megacycle (2 150mm axle)
Hobbit (2x new H40 motors - the H stands for Hyena
I'll post another update when the motors leave china or I get any other noteworthy info. I'll contact everyone individually once the motors are landed and I have the final costs. After the Aussie dollar sitting around 1:1 with the USD and even a bit above for ages it bloody dropped to 96c right when I went to pay for the order
Hopefully there's no more unexpected price hassles with shipping, taxes etc.
