Re: Moped Rims and Wheels, 36 hole, 16" 17" 18" 19"
Crown motors have the wrong hole pattern from left to right, it doesn't work with ANY motorcycle or moped hub I have come across.
19" rims will be here in a few weeks, they are almost to port.

If they are also symmetrically spaced holes (looks like they are) then there would be no problems. Good on them for going to regular flanges.

19" rims just landed! These are made in two types, "rear" style for large diameter hub motors like Cromotors and "Front" style for bicycle hubs and small diameter hubmotors like bafang.
For example, if you are building a hub motored bike you will most likely choose one rear and one front. If you are equipping a mid drive bike or MotoPed you would choose two "front" types.

Hey John,
what spoke lengths do I need to order for a cromotor and the 19" wheel of yours?

128 or 129mm is what I have written down. I just updated the ERD on the site so people can use regular spoke calculators to find lengths.
Re: Moped Rims and Wheels, 36 hole, 16" 17" 18" 19"
John - have you got 18" options available still with suitable angles for Cromotor etc?
I haven't had much luck locating 'street' rubber for 19" and 17" is a touch small given that I'm keeping a 26" up front, in contrast 18" has heaps of tyre options.

We do not have 18s that are proper for cromotors. Here in the states there is a better selection of 17 and 19" tires in smaller profiles. If you are looking to order internationally, Treatland.tv had a lot of tire options, or maybe you can see if the tires they carry are available more locally.

Pardon my inability due to a minor case of ADHD to read through all the pages of this thread but what is the outside diameter of a tire mounted on a 19" rim? Thanks in advance.

Re: Moped Rims and Wheels, 36 hole, 16" 17" 18" 19"
That depends greatly on the tire you use. For as close to 26" OD as possible, many are using the Shinko 241 or 244. I'm using a VeeRubber that is narrower, and comes in about 24.5" OD. Lots of info in this thread: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewto ... =2&t=55458, but if 6 pages is too much to read, the 24 pages that thread is up to will definitely be daunting. Much good info on the first page, though. Give it a look.mabman wrote:Pardon my inability due to a minor case of ADHD to read through all the pages of this thread but what is the outside diameter of a tire mounted on a 19" rim? John do you supply the DMR hubs and if so how much ? Don't see them listed on your site and want a front wheel built & rear parts sent to me.
Going to submit a request thru your web page also.

JRH,
You might suggest a good "kit" for the MXUS 3000W motors we are buying in the group buy. I'd be willing to bet there will be several of us looking to either have you supply the spokes & Rims or even build the wheel.
Please tell us what you recommend for this "Mini Cro" and a 26" wheel bike frame.
http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewto ... 31&t=63394
it might even make sense to direct ship from Seattle to your Shop for those interested in wheel builds...?
I will update the group buy thread with your info, if you like, or you can post.

We tend to exhaust the Dmr hubs imported into the states quickly, right now I think we have one.
I'll be able to lace and offer kits for the fakecro motors. Would be happy to house some at the shop, we have a full height loading dock and can take pallet shipments without lift fees.

Well I would like to buy that one John and have it laced into a 19" MMP 1.6 front wheel. I sent you a message via your web page yesterday Holmes Hobbies.
If I should email you instead I can do that. Black rim, Black spokes with the DMR hub. Otherwise Ill buy one myself and have you ship me all the parts just need
spoke length so I know what to buy. Thanks

Re: Moped Rims and Wheels, 36 hole, 16" 17" 18" 19"
Through the website is best. My customer/order manager doesn't know wheels but he will make sure I get the emails. I'll need to get a hub in hand to really know the spoke length, but if there is a technical drawing floating around I could use that too.
Re: Moped Rims and Wheels, 36 hole, 16" 17" 18" 19"
Thanks - paid for a front/rear 19" and asked to be invoiced for the rest as there are no hubs listed and unsure of spoke size.

Re: Moped Rims and Wheels, 36 hole, 16" 17" 18" 19"
I have been researching Moped or Sport Bike Tires for the MC Rims, and haven't found anything that would seem to fit my needs- Primarily the following:
Outside Diameter 26" +/- 1/2"
Width = 3" +/- 1/4"
Options here are close, but still a little Large or small for my preferences.
Any other Scooter or Moped Tires that you guys have come across that would work well on a 26" Bike Frame?

shinko SR241 19x2.75 is my fav tall tire. It comes in about 24.5" tall to my best memory.
Re: Moped Rims and Wheels, 36 hole, 16" 17" 18" 19"
Oftentimes scooter/moped get mixed up. Scooter tires are typically 10-12". Moped tires are typically 16-19".teslanv wrote:I have been researching Moped or Sport Bike Tires for the MC Rims, and haven't found anything that would seem to fit my needs- Primarily the following:

There's a good discussion about sizes ...http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewto ... =2&t=55458
Most prefer to go down in circumference from 26" to pick up acceleration and torque.
Remember that tires narrower than 2.75 are considered to be moped tires and will not be in motorcycle tire sizing charts. Good selection of those is at Treatland.

That's a good one too!
I'll have holmeshobbies updated with lacing and pricing tomorrow. Just had an engineering/ motor beta run for another company that has taken up the past few weeks. Currently. We are charging $110 for bicycle hubs and $139 for hub motor lacing into our moped rims. Because of the difficulty of using rims not specifically designed for our needs, we will not build wheels using other rims without prior approval.
