I am drooling to get one myself.

I have everything paid for just about other than the controller, I got a reply at the start of the week and they asked for my address, but haven't heard anything else back yet, so fingers crossed !.

a bit of lazy tutorial here, hopefully helpful...

edit: from my ride in this morning, i can say that max regen, at ~34A was very strong. no need to use actual brakes, and better be sure to have two hands on the bars! i also enabled Smooth, and found it nicer than the instant hard braking w/o it enabled. if it were only set to ~20A regen, i might not want the smooth, but at 34A, it comes on just a bit slower...

i forgot to show the throttle/brake configs. it was dumb not to ensure that was configured properly, but seemed to be w/ factory settings..

@GCinDC

Your regen was so strong not only because you set 34A battery but you also set maximum regen phase amps (see 24:07 on your video - 131A )

i set my regen amps in the regen setup(not the phase amps in the power mode profiles)up real high and got some awesome braking power. because i was concerned itmay be too high charge rate for the battey, i toned it down, which was annoying cause it was great.
however, even though braking force was strong, the actual charge going to the battery according to the display was not exceeding max charge rate and was less then the set regen amps.
after toning down the settings to max20A in regen setup, i noticed much less braking force, but the max amps going to the battery as seen on the display during severe braking doesnt seem to be much less :?:
im tempted to just crank it up again. any clues guys?

trying to run through battery setups and just trying to confirm something.

I'm looking at going for hobbyking lifepo4 packs and am looking at this setup.

12 x 6s2p packs 4500mah, 19.8volt packs) wired to be 24s6p (basically a 79.2volt13.5ah pack)

the mini-e kit I order with bms is good to 28s according to the specs.

The part I'm trying to make sure I'm clear on is:

the hookups to the bms are in 4s blocks but that doesnt mean I have to use 4s batteries, just that the connections are done 4s per bms hookup correct? so I'd just have to wire my balance leads in proper order for the bms hookups.

are there any posts (havent found a search result thats put me in the right area) that describes how to hookup the balance leads from multiple batteries in a way to connect this type of battery setup to the bms on the mini? ie what gets wired in series vs parallel when connecting the balance leads together from all the batties to make the 4s connection leads to the bms.

you have single 6s2p packs and want to wire them to 24s6p.
i would do it like this:
build two 12s6p packs with three 4s balance leads (5 wires per lead like the pins on the BMS). If you do so, you do not have to solder a wire bridge to the bms (the bridge will already be in the battery). imho this makes connection more easy.

I hope it isn't indicative of support should a problem arise but I am probably fooling myself into thinking otherwise.

Yeah in Russia i don't think they understand how forums can make or break a product like this. Someone in California should ( Create something similar or better ) and sell it globally.. Tesla just open sourced their patents and I'm betting a lot can be applied to ebikes

Having said that, until it does.. I hope they become improve customer service..

Yes my build is going to be brought to a halt very soon if they don't get themselves into gear, as il soon have all the parts and still be waiting for the controller.

i actually think lifepo4 may be a strong move, but i highly recommend going with 4s packs to keep the wiring simple.

for a 24s2p pack (of 4s batts), you'll need 6 of these: JST-XH Parallel Balance Lead 4S 250mm (2xJST-XH)
Image

for 24s2p, create two rows, like this:

batt:batt:batt:batt:batt:batt:
batt:batt:batt:batt:batt:batt:

and use the parallel balance leads to connect each column. then you can connect the big wires in series for each row... they don't really need to be paralleled for each subpack.

.
thanks for the info. I had looked at 6s mainly because with a 24s6p I could get a 80v 15ah pack (roughly) and still fit in my phasor frame.

the trick with my frame is its 91mm wide, so while I found a decent 4s here:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... _Pack.html

its too wide to put side by side, so it makes it hard to fit 12 into the frame. and the ones that will fit side by side are only 4200mah 13.2v, taking it down to a 52v 15ah battery

I'm trying to find a way to make a pack thats roughly the same as the stealth bomber but not go to lipo.

the other hard part has been c rating. I'll find a limn that 72v 20ah but its only rated for a 2c continuous. I've only got the mini-e, but its still a 65amp controller .

I know a lot of people say with care you can make them safe, but I just have some liability stuff I cant get around.

that would probably work, but it would take perhaps a week to charge!

look for aprox 48v ~ 30A
