Allex,
Leaving for a trip tomorrow. When I get back next week, I'd like to order a Max-E controller, the coil and the BMS that we talked about. Is this the 12kW or the 10kW unit? This thread says 12kW but your other thread says 10kW. Sorry, just a little confused. After my trip, I plan to start stripping my Fighter down to the bare bones and build it from the ground up. New RockShox forks and rear shock, the biggest motor I can fit, motorcycle wheels, Shinko or Heidenau tires, a new High-Speed Schlumpf 2.5:1 overdrive, the Adaptto parts and a new bigger battery setup. The bike will also be armor plated to make it better able to handle rough terrain. I have a cool plan for this. I'll be starting a build thread soon. I'd like to have the bike ready for the Spring riding season. I may try to lighten it a little.

Sorry, to announce my project in your thread. I'm enlisting all the best people to buy parts from. Thanks for your help with this!

Sorry for the confusion. Max E is 10kW and capable of 15kW in Peak. 12 is old specs.
Your fighter will be something extra! Please do make a thread.
I can help you with the motor and battery setup as well, PM me if interested.

Allex, the more I understand about what you've done, the greater my respect for your achievement, which started out pretty great. I'm assuming that little board in the bottom center of the picture is the BMS? Where do you have it physically located? Is it inside your frame with the battery?

Your battery has 240 something cells? Surely your BMS doesn't monitor every single one of them?

There is definitely a lot to dig in, who said that EV are simple compared to regular with combustion engine?
The little green board is the BMS. I have it on top of the battery pack inside the frame. It is pretty small and very thin so you have a lot of room for it in the bike.
The battery consist of 280 (LG HE2) cells. 14cells are in parallel, this gets you 35ah and then 20 of those parallel blocks in series which gives you 84Volts. Like with all batteries, you cannot monitor the cells in parallel group as they share same voltage, same goes with your stock Stealth pack, so what you can see and monitor is every serie in your pack. If one cells goes shenanigans this affect the hole parallel string and the bad cell will drag down the rest and you will see this on the display. This is really useful, because you can understand why you pack starts to behave abnormally - something you don't see on the regular BMS boards inside the batteries.

sorry to nit-pick allex, but isnt that 20 cells in series for 84v?

he he.. yes i find myself rubbing my eyesockets too from time to time, reading es threads in the middle of the night :D

the adaptto bms is really a piece of brilliance.
being able to see individual cells(or paralelle groups ) sag under load as you ride saves so much time stuffing around with old lightglobes to try to find the culprit.

still a few things i dont understand about it yet though... like whats the best balancing voltage to set for the cells..and if it balances continuously or just when its reached the set balance voltage?

It is better to balance the cells when they are fully charged.
Say that your highest cells are 4.17 and the lowest ones are 4.12 at full charge. In this case you need to balance them. Inside BMS menu, you set "balancing to 4.12, save it and exit, after this your BMS board will discharge the higher cells(4.17) down to the lowest (4.12) Inside the infographic menu you will see that status changed, from Battery OK to Balancing.
Why is it better to balance at a top charge? Simply because batteries dont hold so many WHs between 4.1 and 4.2V. In result the above balance process can only take a few hours instead of few days. This time depends of course on how big your battery is.

If you don want it to balance your pack, set the balancing to 4.2 because your voltage never exceeds this value during a charge.

Hope this made it a bit more clear.

Hey Allex,
Now that my Max-E is bought and paid for, I need to start thinking about a new battery. Any idea what will fit into the Fighter's frame. I want as much as is possible and I'm willing to modify it, within reason. The bike will soon be coming apart to get a complete makeover. New powder coating, new forks, motorcycle rims and tires, etc...

Also, will the Adappto Max-E work with my current batteries? I currently have two Fighter battery packs. My bike apparently has a 4080 hub motor. What do you recommend to replace it?

I'll send you a PM, just in case you don't want to answer here.

Sam, I will send yours on Monday.
For batteries, I would not modify that frame of yours. If you go 18650 Route you will probably fit 1500Whs in there. If you give me the dimentions of your stock pack we could count. You stock battery will work with new controller but you will soon feel that you need more power and range from the stock battery because you will pull more power from the new controller - less range.
As for the motor, it depends. Your current motor is light and that is a plus. Will it be a road only machine? In this case the weight is not crusual and you can go for the big boys, like:
*Cromotor (you need 165mm drop outs)
*Crystalyte crown (lighter than cro but not as powerfull)
*Even more lighter, maybe the new Crystalyte TC4080, it is a newer version of your old one.
*New, cheap and popular MXUS 3000 (https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewto ... =2&t=63142)
But that motor needs more optimizations before the perfection, like thicker phase wires, better axle, thinner laminations(they are 0,5mm now) and a cast stator instead of a staped one.

Allex,
I'm thinking the TC4080 might be my best choice. Or maybe the Cyrstalyte Crown. Not sure if the Cromotor will fit the Fighter. Doesn't the TC4080 have provisions for motorcycle spokes? The bike will be used both on and off-road. I don't need much more speed, just a little.

I'll measure the packs and PM you the measurements.

You made my day today Allex!!

Doorbell rings and it is a package from Sweden. Max E controller, BMS and Coil. Also, thank you for getting me another BMS and coil for my existing Max - E. I have been waiting for so long. The BMS was still under development when I got the first Max -E. I cant wait to set this up now. :D :D :D

Cheers, Brake.

Ah I wish I bought a mini E from you when you had them. My wire transfer to adaptto is taking forever, probably lost or stuck.
