Rims have arrived. Nice packaging so thanks very much. Very happy. Only 1110 gram and 48mm at widest point. Perfect for ebike and they are much more compact than the torpedo 6 1.8" Rims I am running at the moment.

For those in oz looking for tyres stumbled across a vee rubber trial tyre at my local motorbike shop. Model is vrm308 in 2.5-19" with retail being $69. Very happy with tyre. Good grip and low noise and it can pass as a fat bike tyre to the untrained eye.

Those tyres look the goods - very similar to the Shinko's... but no-one stocks the Shinko's in Aus. (in 19inch)... good find.

thanks for the feedback 9lives.
as they were packed that way( wrapped individualy then in cardboard in a roll together)the postage was considderably less then if in a box.
i discovered this recently.

i still struggle with the aus post cubic weight concept...it makes me feel slightley better that even the woman at the post office couldnt make head or tail of the stupid cubic weight tables

if they are wrapped without a box, it seems they go by weight alone, not weight/volume.
this means up to 7.8kg (6 rims!) will be like 33aud to vic from tas for eg.
if in a box its looking like twice that.

I like the narrow 1.4" size for ebike/emoto.
anything wider gets really heavy and the rolling resistance increases dramatically.
when watt-hours/km is the currency we deal with, and without the old petrol power-density, this becomes a major factor for us to considder.

I laced one of these rims up today.

The 19inch variety

I ordered 130mm spokes 128mm would work better for the Mxus 3000

130mm spokes are just a fraction to long

nicely done.

did you double check the ERD yourself or just go with the manufacturers measurement?

BTW , weights of the 2 sizes are (aprox):
1,4x18 =~1030 grams
1.4x19 =~1100 grams

i believe it will be aprox 26AUD for 2 rims to ACT including tracking(based on the last time i sent them there).
my local post lets me send them based on weight only if they are wrapped right, so way cheaper, then it really should be.

for a single rim, i think it will be similar price as it still falls into the 7.0kg bracket.

up to 6 rims should also be similar post cost I think.

any idea how much shipping to germany?
to Germany, sea mail,2-3months.
for 7.0kg, looks like ~95AUD, that will do 6x18" or 5X19" I think.

for 3kg,(2rims)~50Aud

faster shipping is possible but will be ~100AUD for 2 rims I think :| .
