Anyone measured the ERD of these? Is the 468mm from the manufacturer (the 19") correct?

I just laced one recently with a saint front hub.

I must have made a mistake with the calc somewhere, as the spokes were a couple mm on the short side., still workable though.

I was going on ERD 471mm, but i dont know if my error was with the rim or hub measurement, or both

depending on the nipple gage, it might make a significant difference, cause the rim holes are only ~5mm for 12g spoke nipples, so a larger nipple may sit a little proud in the hole, meaning the spokes will need to be slightly longer...unless they are drilled out slightly so the nipple sits lower.
if you measure the ERD with DIFFERENT size nipples, that can make it off too, i think thats also what i did.

however Ozman found his calc out by a couple mm too long,(see his post earlier) with his mxus hub, he was working with what the manufacturer told me- 446mm.

I will re-measure the ERD of both sizes shortly and post results.

Hi guys
I used 468mm as the ERD for the 19inch rim my spokes were about 1mm - 2mm longer than they needed to be
If i were lacing a mxus 3OOO motor into one of these 19inch rims 128mm is what length spoke i would order

just for the record-
i laced a QS 205 v3, into an 18" x 1.4 size,

the correct length of spoke(I used 11G from Newsons,1 cross) is around 118mm.

i actually got 120mm, but had to cut 2 mm of, cause they were a whisker too long.

Erd of 19" size is still 471mm in my book,i checked again using 12g spokes/nipples. but by ozmans experience, his spokes were too long, even using 468mm, so probably best to get your rims on hand before ordering spokes

ok so im a little imbarrassed about this.

i finally retraced my steps on the ebikes .ca spoke calc.

it looks like the reason my spokes were too short for the saint hub was because i was rushing things and had selected the 2 cross instad of 3 cross option

for the record, a saint 20mm hub in 19",3cross needs something like 221mm/222mm spokes(13g), depends a little on the spoke elbow in/out config.
the spokes i had(wrong calc.), 216.8mm/218.0mm were ~3mm too short

also a QS 205 50H, 1cross ALT in an 18" needs ~ 120mm spokes(11g)

also, in actual fact, i think the ERD is really closer to 468mm for the 19".
the nipples tend to flex out when you measure the length with spokes as they sit tight in the small 5mm hole, giving a false measurement(well, thats my excuse :) )

Half way through lacing up a front 19" rim. With just the 2.75/3.00 x19 tyre its around 600mm in diameter. With a tyre as well it will be close to 25" tall I think. Not sure about the smaller rim. 600mm in diameter is just the tube

im guessing less than or up to $30 for 2 rims to QLD.

re sizes, the 19 will be close to a 24" mtb, give or take depending on choice of tyre.

the 18" will be ~23"dia I think.

looking nice Quokka.
what tire will you go with and what hub/spoke length have you got there?

note: i did a few calcs for spokes with different hubs in the 19" and it seems like saint/zee, hope pro 2 or dmr front 20mm can use aprox the same length spokes...give or take a mm

For the front wheel I am building I have used 12g spokes from Holmes hobbies. The left spoke length was 221mm and the right is 223mm. I have used a hope pro 2 Evo hub. I had to enlarge the hub spoke holes to 3.5mm using drill bit and cordless drill. I am still waiting on my spoke wrench so I am not sure yet if the spoke length is correct. If I was to make the wheel again I would consider using 13 or 14 g spokes as their are some gnarly spoke angles using the 12's. But the wheel looks super tough and I reckon I won't break it any time soon. I am running Shinko 241's but they are still on their way.

The rear wheel I am building is a Cromotor v3- from Zelena. Spoke lengths for that have come out to be 130mm. When I build the wheel I will post a revised spoke length if its dodgy. Both rims are 19"

On another note the spokes from Holmes hobbies were amazingly fast, took around 10days from order to having them

Sounds like holmes are getting more organised.
id always go 13g on front, its taking less punishment then the rear and the extra flex would be better i think. also no need to drill the hub.

i just ordered some spokes from newsons, for the hope pro 2 front hub in 19" got 222.5/221.0mm so pretty much same as yours :D
QS 205 in an 18" was 121mm

So... After waiting for nearly a month for my spoke wrench to turn up it finally arrived. All my spokes went in and seem to have the right length calculated. For those running crows/ qs motors beware of floating disk rear brakes as the are recessed in 2mm which you need to space the calliper for. I didn't have enough room so have to order a new rear disk.

RTL, I am running vee rubber v308's which are available in local motorbike shops in oz (my shop ordered them in for me from oz distributer) they are sold as trial tyres but look similar to the shinko 241's. Fit the 1.4" wide rims perfectly and performance wise very happy.

wow. they really do look like the fabled sr241s. people say the 241s have really low rolling resistance, but sometimes i wonder if there really can be much difference between tyres with same tread pattern,

quokka, that bike looks bad ass!
