Variable Regen Settings

You can look at the PhaseRunner software to see what they do with variable ebrake/regen to get a sampling of what they do.

Essentially they have a control sensitivity settings, max current settings, and max voltage settings.

In detail they have max battery current, max motor phase current, a pair of max voltages over which they ramp down the regen, and a pair of voltages to map 0 to 100% of the regen/braking input.

It is important to have all these settings, if you can. For example, if using a linear hall sensor the low and high voltages will be dependent on where the magnet is, how strong it is, where the sensor is, where the actual brake comes on, etc. It won't be some fixed values.

Powervelocity.com wrote:Pass-through is what I am running. I found this to work best as it least modifies the throttle. I bump up the ramp-up delays all the way to 99v per second, to eliminate any delays altogether...
3-position switch wired directly to the controller has always worked best for me. Running it through the CA gave me all kinds issues, like pulsations at acceleration, etc.

Like I explained, it's just a lil smoother on PAS on the current throttle setting BUT it doesn't really allow full power unless on pass thru (approx 2900w limited but that's fine too for commuting and PAS is good) It apparently is a CA known issue...
I had my delays all at 99v too, but I had to smooth the ramping out for smoother PAS onset reasons, I Hate the 1st seconds jerky power pulse, with way worse a kick on pass thru.

If you configured the speed/current levels in the software, there is no reason why it should not work. .
Also, here are my suggested settings. Make sure that 3/4 Speed Swch is set to 0: X1 X2. This is important. The speed and current limits can be set to taste.
Well there was the issue right there I guess. I brought up the ASV file you made for me and it was set for no3 which I blv is a 4 speed setting so no wonder it wasn't working  well I'll try and change it tomorrow and see how it goes...

I was testing on Galaxy s4 which has HD (larger) screen resolution than earlier devices like Note 3, so I guess potential screen size issues eluded me. Anyhow, I've just updated the app, it should auto scale to pretty much any device screen size now, tablets included.

Go ahead and replace it with the one located here:

I'm trying to fix my ESC settings and setup my 3 speed to controller properly right now. I once again noticed the soft start setting and am wondering if perhaps enabling it now I am using PAS, will be a better/smoother ramping option than what I'm trying to do with the CA, which kinda conflicts with every other mode being smooth? You once mentioned disliking it, but I'm not sure if you use pedal assist or not?

I used to have PAS on my hardtail but I am yet to get it installed on the EBB frame. With a moto seat, pedaling is not much fun. I am considering going back to a bicycle seat that will allow me to sit higher for more comfortable pedaling. I definitely need PAS for the heavy bike like that.

The Soft Start option is there but I have never used it. Hard starts is what I am used to ;) You can play with the setting and see if it helps in your case.

It still is cutting off the numbers on my note with the new program. I uninstalled the old one and tried again, and still cutting off

I also installed on my Asus tablet, and it cuts them off too, not as much but it still is not showing the full screen.

A screenshot is always helpful. Just helps me to see where and what to fix as I have only one device to test it on.

I can imagine it actually being quite awkward trying to pedal with that motor seat. I actually use a dropper seat post to change seat height on the fly while pedalling that heavy ass EEB around. I love it, but sometimes forget to lower it again when I stop 4 a traffic light, I (try and) put my leg out as a footrest and it's NOT @the expected height ;) lol, hairy moments indeed.

Btw I changed the 3 speed settings to the right one, and now it's just as it should be. The 3 speed gives me either 50% or 80% of 100% power/speed, on 1+2 but 3 gives me 130% of 110% for my "beast mode" ;) the CA 3 speed changes my PAS levels from 600w /975w and 1300w on the fly. My setup is almost exactly as I wanted it, so thanks for the help

It looks like you have to be a certified Goth to legally use that font. ;)

I would love to support iOS as well but my resources are limited, so I have to maintain the focus on polishing out Android one first. Programmer function is just a small portion of what I am working on to implement in the app. Besides, Andoroid devices are dirt cheap and can be had just for the bike if necessary.

If someone with iOS coding experience is willing to take a stab and write a quick iPhone app, however, I would gladly provide logistics support (communication protocol documentation, etc.).

Just wanted to share some good news. We have been quietly working with XPD Software developer to add the programming functionality for the sinewave controllers.

So, it's official now: XPD supports programming for sinewave controllers we sell. That means you have yet another option to program your controller using a better quality software compared to native configurator. That means also you can use multiple platforms other than Windows. That includes Macs and other *nix type of systems or anything that can run Python.

New version of XPD can be downloaded here:
