just 10ml of it for the big hubbies.

7ml should be enough for the MXUS guys.
I read sometime ago 5ml where just enough for MXUS and that is what i have used on mine.

Lol, You where the first one talking about "should be fine"
If i put more than 5ml on the mxus it sounds and sometime leaks.

This is what Justin said:

"We're packaging it in a 10mL syringe, and for most of the common direct drive hub motors around 5mL is all that is required to gain the thermal conductivity benefits"

"From what we've seen with the motors so far is that each mL of fluid is good for about 50 cm^2 of rotor surface area. So if you know the width and diameter of your stator, calculate the total area of magnets in cm^2 and divide that by 50 to get the approximate fluid fill that is required."

- you have to seal your sideplates
- 5-6ml is what justin said, yes.

so we talk about 1ml now? if you check the pics theres IS an improvement in heat dissipation
(up to 14ml was tested and up to 10ml there was a higher conductivity between core and shell)
not much and probably not worth for efficiency guys seeking the 99,999%
but for my self i choose the "maxium" possible.
pushing 10kw through your motor is wasting energy deluxe. but for us power junkees its the ultimate cooling.

Kcore / Shell
4ml - 6.20
5ml - 6.76
6ml - 6.88
8ml - 6.97
10ml - 7.03

so i say it again:

up to you. its your motor, and your ride.
seal your sideplates. thats it.

if your motor squeeks, i cant tell you why. My MXUS v3 has 7-8ml inside, my Cro and Qs205 has 10ml it.
no squeeking, no sweeping

as you like to quote...

So here's the best part, after a week's worth of testing and running that motor again and again in the wind tunnel test chamber with the side plate flanges sealed (but the injection hole left wide open), there wasn't a single drop of leaked ferrofluid anywhere to be seen.

if you ride your mxus with 2-3KW, long ways, long and high hills and need the benefit of better efficiency, no problem. I would also fill only 5ml in it. Just for the same "bite" of maximum demands in the other direction of Drag vs Rolling resistance.

What would you recommend for me as an QS V3 205 Motor from Vector- owner with up to 14 kW in use? 10ml or 5ml?
Thanks

Wow. Did ferrofluid go up in price in the past 5 years? I have this big bottle of it I got for like $60 or something back in 2009.

Hello guys,
what do you use to seal motor covers after you apply ferrofluid ?
Is it even necessary to seal it ? Or does magnets hold it at appropriate place ?

Thanks !

Gore valves.

The guys is on on endless sphere as well making custom CA mounts. I bought a few of them, think they were 10 bucks each Pretty reasonable when compared to other places.
Jaycar sells jb weld for aussies. Worked well so far. I will do the new QS205 the same way for the NYX. I am amazed how well this ff stuff works.
