Re: [AUSTRALIA] Sur-Ron Light Bee / Fire Fly - Mid drive ebike
It appears with 176 panasonic PF cells the stated specs are ambitious
Battery Pack 60 Volt: Configuration: 16S11P
Cells: 176 Panasonic NCR18650PF 2900mAh
Capacity: 32Ah, 1920Wh
i'm not sure how you get to 1920Wh as 176@2.9AH*3.6V = 1837Wh (at best)
and 57.6V nominal 67.2Hot off the charger and min capacity rating of just 2700mAh
gives more like 1710Wh which is 10% less.
For me I think the range would be insufficient as i typically use 20-24AH from nominal (22S) 79.2V battery =1500Wh.
I'd be very interested to see Hyena's take on it after a few months of use, perhaps he can advise if a 30kM ride is viable,
in that I have at least 2 stretches of 5km each with 80km/hr speed limits hence would be running the bike flat out.
If it is viable then i have a 2013 model stealth bomber with 2 new crazybob tyres and an almost new 22S10P (LGMJ13500mAh) battery for sale at $6200. as getting caught on the bomber doing 80km/hr is a $470 exercise in Vic for riding an unregistered motorcycle. (adds to the thrill of the ride

Re: [AUSTRALIA] Sur-Ron Light Bee / Fire Fly - Mid drive ebike
Having owned mine for a couple months now - i'm pretty happy with it. could do with a bit more umph and a bit quieter running, but im investing in a nuk controller and possibly a belt drive... so its gotta be decent if im putting more money into it right?

main complaints are (in no particular order):
rear numberplate/mudguard is crap, mine broke off after a few drops form about 1.5ft
headlights are pretty crap too - not really good for offroad at night - ive put some LED floods on mine
handlebars are too low for me (6''1) bought some handlebar risers
stock cables/brake tubes are too short - I have to remove the handlebars to get them off the end of the bars. 5-10cm extra would make a huge difference.
stock tyres are crap offroad (no surprise)
stock shocks are pretty ordinary - front in particular - will be upgrading these at some point
stock brake pads are really REALLY loud. louder than the damn chain/motor. need to change these too.
stock bashguard is made of cheese. mines bent to hell already.
Main pro's:
nice and quiet (desptie chain noise complaints its still far quieter than a ice bike)
easy to use/reliable - other than the rear mudguard/bashguard ive had 0 issues.
fun
rear suspension is great compared to my hub motor'ed bikes hahah.
motor runs cool - even hammering it for ~1h in ~25C temps its only warm to the touch (estimate ~45C 'back of hand' feel). so lots of upgrade potential... 24f nuk should wake it up some

I haven't watched my range closely, but 30km shouldn't be too hard, even hammering it. Bike uses notably more power at high speeds but depending on how hard/fast your 20km main section is i'd be surprised if you get through the whole pack in 30km. even at 1500wh used that's 50wh/km, and this bike is more efficient than my hubby at low speed/high torque situations, so less wasted power. not too hard to upgrade either - ill be putting 16ah in parallel (hk lipo) to give some more range and power handling.KarlJ wrote: ↑Nov 05 2019 11:51pmIt appears with 176 panasonic PF cells the stated specs are ambitious

also worth checking what the fine is for riding a motorbike offroad where you are too hahah - may be worse than a unregistered bike. $470 seems cheap too for unrego'ed...

Re: [AUSTRALIA] Sur-Ron Light Bee / Fire Fly - Mid drive ebike
I have been riding the road Legal SurRon commuting each way 26ks. I usually use btw 40-45% of the battery each way. I’m flat out all the way WOT top speed 75kph and up some steep hills. I’m 6.2 and weigh 97kgs. So this standard SurRon battery will handle for me a 50k round trip
Cheers

Surron
Thats impressive range Nic
Efficiency must be significantly better than the 5404 on the bomber.
Fines for riding motorcycles on single trail are getting very expensive in Vic, guessing as TAC copping all the injury costs
= something had to be done.
Fun police out in force

Hey K, I used to commute on a stealth Fighter with Bomber UFO motor 72v 24ah at 90k+ ph... Too risky now on roads with cops looking. Only thing that saved me was ghost peddling and the bicycle seat. SurRon way more efficient and less stressful to commute on. Although I have been pulled over a few tines on road so far by cops eager to have a look at the SurRon.

Loving my New Sur-ron (big Thanks to ADAM !!! )
using it to do a daily commute 41km down a lumpy gravel road, charge it at work,
then 41km all the way home again.
no traffic just sitting on one speed. (and dodging the roos)
